Sig Sauer P226

wow, a guy is happy as all hell to get a top notch pistol and guys derail it by talking about G17s and CZ's?
talking bull#### about quality control and blaming the gun for operator error?

Congrats on the SIG, welcome to the club.

ditto! I could never bring myself to spend money on a g17, but my buddy did and i'm glad it was him! the sig is very simple and just feels buttery and solid.

I thought this was a discussion forum.... All you certain brand fan boys are so "closed" minded.
I have Sigs and like them to shoot at the range but there are other options and better options IMO for end users.
DA/SA is an outdated design. Striker fire is where it's at for duty.

Love my sig 226 congrats on the purchase! I'll be looking forward to some pictures. It does take some getting used to and finger/thumb training, I know I've hit it a couple times. It's easy enough to train yourself out of though. Nice, consistent trigger pulls which can only be made easier by a SRT I'd imagine (don't have one myself).

My sig is a great gun and I love it. Wouldn't sell it unless I really needed cash. That doesn't mean I can't appreciate a glock/beretta/hk/whatever...actually a beretta or glock is the next pistol I want to purchase. Still no matter what Glock/S&W/etc does it doesn't change a Sig, which is pretty damn good in its own right. Why can't I love my sig and a new glock? :p

Personally, I fell in love with the P226 the moment I first held it at the gun shop. It just felt so right in my hands. The metal frame, the simple features on it, durability... all were just added bonuses. I ended up getting the TacOps model. Tritium sights are pretty cool on that one. It also comes standard with the SRT. The BIG downside is I am in Canada, otherwise I would have gotten the big mags included rather than the standard 10 round mags. I recently replaced the grip with a Crimson Trace so now I get a great handling firearm, and a very nice laser sight.

Admittedly, the SA/DA trigger does take a bit to get used to. I've spent time at the range just leaving it decocked in my holster, drawing and firing 1 shot, then decocking again before putting it back in the holster. Sometimes I'll squeeze 2 shots off to practice the feel of that first long trigger pull with a quick followup shot. It will still take me some practice as I still find that my first shot goes low, then second on target. I think I've gotten a bit better at it now with some dry fire practice at home.

Love my P226 Elite (9mm). Great to look at and even better to shoot.

Finally here. Pic Heavy.

Alrighty.

The gun finally arrived today. It was expected on Friday, so I traded shifts with somebody so I could be there to accept it. As luck would have it, Canada Post didn't even drive NEAR my condo on Friday. Thankfully my wife was able to get the day off today to sign for it.

Anyways, down to business.

This gun, is flat out, the best feeling gun I've ever handled. The fit and finish is fantastic. The grips (E2) fit my hand like they were made for me. Everything about the gun just oozes quality. It honestly reminds me of an automatic watch, more of a work of art than a tool. I can absolutely see how Sig charges quite a bit more for their pistols.

After a few minutes of tinkering and getting to know her, I took the gun apart and did a quick wipe down with an oily cloth. Takedown of the gun is very simple, with no trigger pull required. Simply lock the slide back, rotate the takedown lever, and slowly release the slide forward and off the frame. Someday, I'll do a complete strip of all parts on the gun.

All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase. I'm going to my range this weekend to shoot the gun. I'll have more pictures, and an accuracy report probably Saturday.

Any questions or comments, feel free to leave them.

Geeze took long enough to get this pistol... Kept me waiting on the edge of my seat over the weekend
