Sig sauer p320 ammo

I just joined canadiangunnuts this morning, and I apologize in advance if this topic has been addressed or if I am breaking some type of Forum Rule. I did search and could not find the exact answer that I am hoping to get here.

I believe that I have purchased a new Sig Sauer P320. Like anything else, it's not yours until it's delivered.

I asked the retailer about using Sig Sauer ammo; he said yes, but he also said that Federal or S & B (I assume that stands for Sellier and Bellot) would be fine as well.

For your Sig Sauer P320 owners; what are your thoughts on Ammo? Winchester?

FYI - I am strictly a shooting range guy.

Honestly, you can use whatever bass-cased 9mm ammunition you can get your hands on. I've been using Blazer Brass, Sellier and Bellot, Winchester and others without ever a hiccup.

Some folks may have experience with aluminum or steel case ammo. I just never never did.

I see that the Sig Sauer ammo is a little more expensive than say Federal or Winchester. I wasn't sure if ammo is like other things where "you get what you pay for."

I use premium gas in my boat, weed whackers, lawn tractors, etc., not because it's called for, but because people say that those engines run better on premium.

Iwas just wondering if the Sig Sauer P320 preferred the Sig Sauer ammo.

I am a sand wedge away from Cabelas in Ottawa; they don't have Sig Sauer ammo, but they have Federal and Winchester. I might try a box or two of each.
 
My P320 runs them all just fine. Some are a little dirtier than others, but I clean after every range session anyways. Buy what you can find at reasonable prices and enjoy.
 
Okay I’m going post this here as well as the the other I posted it I; as it is a specific question pertaining to ammunition for the Sig Sauer P320 !.
I won’t be hand loading for awhile yet so ….
Should I just pick up any 9mm ammunition for the P320 . Sorry if you have basically answer it already !
Please place a list in order of preference I know that price does not necessarily mean accuracy or quality or dies it ?

Many thanks. I was going to just buy the Sig Sauer ammo, but from all of the responses here, cheaper ammo like Winchester or Federal will perform just fine for range shooting.
 
The p320 is not a picky firearm. I have had no FTF or FTE. Unfortunately in todays market ammunition is harder and more expensive to come by. I have stocked up on Federal 115 grain aluminum and it has run perfectly.

In my opinion buy what you can at this point.

in essence, any freshly manufactured 9mm ammo is good with any of the contemporary handguns ...

nuances come up when dealing with casings - brass vs aluminum vs steel, it depends on how many rounds you get through your handgun's barrel, do you (plan) to reload, etc
bullet weights come to play based on your perception and taming of the recoil of your gun - snappy vs pushy, etc ...

unless one's is really skilled and high level shooter - accuracy of your gun and any of the commercial ammo is commonly way above the shooter's level ..
most of the commercially reloads are OK too, but risks are slightly higher - I had just one malfunction with a commercial cartridge (primer hit but the powder didn't ignite)
and two squibs with commercial reloads (I shoot 100:1 newly manufactured vs commercial reloads),
one's own reloads are one's own ...

and, the type of the bullet - round nose, hollow point, flat point, FMJ, TMJ, etc - it's the purpose of ammo's use ... for plain plinking and target shooting - RN (or FP) are all is needed ...


in conclusion - in current shortage condition especially, get what is available and one can afford
 
Thanks for all the advice. My intent at this time is just target shooting at either the RA Center in Ottawa or the Stittsville Shooting Range.

I have done a ton of Google searches yesterday and today; I think that I am pretty well set. I have found 3 canadiangunnutz sponsors who have both variety and in-stock.

My plan is to try about 4 or 5 different brands of 115 grain and maybe one brand of 124 grain.

Then, once I am content with one or more of the brands, I would do a bulk buy (500 - 1,000) rounds to save a couple of bucks.
 
Check with the range you plan to shoot at …. Some places only allow brass cases …. 9mm can also be found with steel or aluminum cases too.
 
That's a good point; I will check with them.

Before I can shoot at a shooting range, I need to take their safety course. As of today, the only course date they had was July 9th, and my luck, I have to attend a family reunion that day. So, I may not need the ammo until August or September.
