For some time now I've been considering a Sig sauer p229 and the search function has been no help whatsoever.
I'd like to know if there is a significant difference between the P229R and the P229 Elite, what the differences are and do they justify the couple hundred or so bucks difference in the price.
I would like to hear from some Sig owners, what they chose and why.
Any help / suggestions greatly appreciated.

an R means Refurb so it is previously enjoyed. Then it's a matter of the features on that model

Elite would have
cocking serrations on the front of the slide
beavertail
front strap checkering
wood grips
SRT

Pretty confident that "R" is rail.

On the elite, the thing that's really going to matter (to me anyhow) is the shot reset trigger (SRT). If you take a look at SIG's website they have a good breakdown of the features of the various models.

I'd say the elite was worth it... SRT trigger is great! i think the Elite has the different grips, SRT trigger, and night sights. There's elite dark with aluminum grips and elite stainless with the wood. The sights and upgraded trigger make it well worthwhile IMO. Shouldn't be disappointed either way though I'm sure

edit: oh and the beavertail which i find it much more comfy

Thanks for the help fellas, now I'm thinking maybe the Elite is the way to go.
But I have to sell my Redhawk to make room first..
All replies appreciated !

To me, the beavertail seems so out of place on a Sig.

haha ya i hear you, i agree it's definitely less "Sig-like" or classic looking, but it's quite nice for those of us who don't have larger hands. very comfy for me and just overall easier to grip and control. but hey, who only wants one type anyway?? more the better :D
