These seem to be very reasonably priced for being a Sig and look to be fairly compact. Anyone here own or have ever shot one before? I don't own any polymer handguns yet and this seems to be a great value for a quality gun.

Thanks

I have one, likely had i got this first I would not have bought a 226, well who am I kidding I'm a sigholic! fine now just go get one, it's a great gun if you like Sigs. I used to also have the 2340 in DAO, liked the gun but not the DAO.

I love the profile of that gun (except for the canada-legal barrel). I bought a P239 instead, but if I had to buy another sig, it would be an SP2022 for sure.

How comparable size wise is it to a P239? I'm looking at getting one of those :)

I'm actually not 100% sure as I never had one next to the other. But if I had to take an educated guess and looking at comparison pictures on google, the SP2022 seems to be about the same size as a 226, and a 239 is definitely more compact than a 226.

Side note, the 239 is my favorite handgun right now.

Closer to the 229. The pistol feels and points the same as a 229 for me, which is a good thing. I have shot the 2022 a few times but because it feels so similar and shoots the same as my 229's I have never picked one up for myself. That being said though I wouldn't hesitate to pick one up at the right price.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I have one coming

Just picked up one of these Sig SP2022's w/106mm barrel (awaiting it's arrival). I have a question... will the .40 mags work in the 9mm like they do in the 226? What I do know is there is also a cheaper MecGar magazine option that doesn't have the pinky section on the grip and the SP2022 is sized between the 229 and the 226. Little smaller than the 226 and larger than the 229.

Here's an overview of the pistol.

have u ever compared that to the p226 curious what double the price gets you?

^ Double the price (Sig 226) gets you an alloy frame, cheaper readily available mags, larger and heavier pistol. The 226 has many upgrades available like Night Sights, grip panels, SRT trigger, etc. I have a 226 Elite and love it but I must admit that my SP2022 is an unbelievable value for what you pay for it. It shoots just as well at half the price (although the 2022 is around $569 now).

This is basically a slightly smaller polymer "poor man's" 226 with the same 4.5 lb SA trigger and DA/SA hammer fired platform, with CDN legal 106mm barrel (I believe the US barrel is 3.9"). Size is between a 226 and 229.

My SP2022 is a keeper. I'm used to the Sig platform and this hit bullseyes right out of the box. Couldn't hit anything with the S&W SD9 VE that I bought. Sold it after a month.

If I could ever find an FDE SP2022 w/106mm barrel, I'd buy it.

ya i like that fde look, I'm just curious bc ive wanted a 226 but not at the current price so wondering if this was similar enough to the experience of the real thing.

It is. It feels like a slightly smaller and lighter 226. When I picked it up and shot it, it felt similar and I shot extremely well out of the box. I don't understand why this pistol isn't more popular as I've yet to see a bad review. The only bad thing is, they aren't that easy to find. Frontier, Prairie GT, Epps, SFRC had them, sold out. If I could find an FDE model w/CDN legal barrel, I'd buy a second.

There is a more expensive model with Night Sights, by the way.

Anyone know if the 40 mags work in the 9mm pistol like they do in the 226, thus giving higher legal capacity?
