Sig Special Chamber, 5.56 or .223?

I'm wondering if anyone knows what the chamber of the Sig Special rifles is most similar to. There is difference between a 5.56mm chamber and a .223 chamber and I was hoping someone would know which the Sig is chambered in. I believe the largest difference is in the leade; the 5.56 having a longer leade. Thanks in advance.
 
That said, it is also a milspec rifle, and will most likely eat anything even close to 5.56mm / .223 remington with no signs of indigestion... They're kinda designed to run a wee bit dirty!

nope, we use the same cartridge. Any Swiss rifle will work with pretty much everything, I've never had the problem with M855, M193, GP90 or 5,56mm ammo
 
It's chambered for 5.6mm Swiss, officially, however that means nothing because one of the reasons for the 5.6mm Swiss is that it had to be interchangeable with 5.56 NATO as NATO would be "Switzerland's most likely allies" in the event of a war, according to the blurb I read about it. So anything made to NATO specs or better should be okay.

And can I just say, Kampfhamster, that the Swiss football team succcckkkksssssss........ I want the time I spent watching that debacle against Ukraine back.

Doesn't the Swiss military use an underpowered 5.56 cartridge in their rifles? The Gw Pat.90 ?

And isn't the basic rule of thumb with .223 vs. 5.56 mm is that a gun chambered for 5.56 mm can fire .223 no problem but a rifle in .223 might be damaged by the higher pressure created by 5.56 rounds?

The guys just can't hit the damn goal, that's all. But anyway, it's just soccer.

There is no such thing as 5,6mm Swiss. Gewehrpatrone 1990 (rifle cartridge 1990) is just the swiss designation for the 5,56 x 45mm swiss_ordonance

Correct on both counts.

I wish the mods would sticky a thread on the 5.56/.223 and 7.62/.308 differences.
