I'm getting the occasional failure to fire due to light firing pin strikes in my old-model Sig P220 chambered in 9mm. It's an old gun whose history is unknown to me, so I figure it's probably time for a change of springs.

I've taken all my Sigs apart before but I haven't yet wrapped my brain around every mechanical aspects of the pistol. If I want to ensure consistent firing pin strikes, should I replace the mainspring or the sear spring? Definitely not the firing pin spring, right?

The spring recommended maintenance is in the manual. Unfortunatly I don't have it with me right now, but I'm pretty sure you can find it online somewhere... else I'll check tonight when I get back home...

Personnaly, if you're not sure of the history, I would change every spring; it's not that expensive and will probably help in the long run. Worn spring can cause premature wear and failure.

think its 3000-5000 rounds recoil spring and 10,000 rounds mainspring/hammer, for replacing, those would be the two i'd think about first. all other springs i dont worry about. (sig rep told me 3000 for recoil spring, but i hold off till 5000)

course i could be wrong, might be thinking p226.
