Sig X5 frame MOD / P320 X5 Build

Interesting. Great build incidentally. You have a talent this guy doesn't have.

I went with the X Five and plan on playing tinker toy with a Tacops and compact frames but that is for another day.

I do have the PPQ Match and 5".

Comparing the PPQ Match and the XFive my take is:

PPQ wins on trigger -as close to a 1911 as I have seen out of the box with an advertised and tested 5.6lb pull that will decrease over time.

PPQ wins on grip in my hands. Grip feel is very subjective.

PPQ wins on accuracy Off a bench with my eyes using the irons it is the most accurate pistol I own at 20 yards - my self imposed limit for testing. I can't see well enough to go out to 25 yards. I prefer the larger FO the PPQ has over the much thinner FO on the XFive.

The ability to swap frames etc and the fact the US Army has adopted the pistol will ensure the XFive and the 320 Series will be with us for a very long time and the amount of after market systems for the series is just beginning. I like the gun and will either run it with irons or get a Romeo sight for it.

To date I am way faster with irons over using my Vortex Viper 6MOA. Still Alive is correct finding the dot does take practice.

I should add my PPQ 5" went auto on me at a match and is now in the hands of North Silva. I suspect the gun will have a new sear set when it returns. Parts and service is a big question mark on the Walther line. We shall see how North Silva does. So far they have been very professional.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't in love with the rattlecan job. How did you work that magic?

"krylon" ;)

and yeah, he did a great job with the paint, uh, job.

I'll be mimicking his with my "x-carry/tacops".. totally not ashamed to say it also :)

On another note, has anyone tried .40cal magazines with 9mm ammo in a 9mm gun?? I just tried it westerday with my p229, and the 13x 9mm round fit in the mag with no feeding issues

Is there a way to order an x5 frame without the slide ?
Or do you need to buy both guns ?

SIG sells the X Five frame separately. Whether or not the Distributor imports them is another matter. I would assume they do. Check out the SIG website. When you Google it click on SIG Store. They also sell kits which includes the Barrel, Slide and Frame.
