I've been patiently waiting for my Sig X5 that has been sitting at MD Charlton since August last year waiting for a replacement rear sight (the original one simply flew off after the bolt stripped from recoil is what I'm guessing happened). I haven't shot it now for 14months, and it's my favorite gun, and I'm thinking of getting them to send it back to me so I can shoot it before the end of the year. Anyone got a line on where I can find a replacement rear sight?

Have you tried contacting Bruce Gray? This might involve sending the gun to him, so it could be time-consuming.

Too bad. What variant? You could try Gunbroker in the US, or Roco Industries. I would call Roco as it is not listed on their sight.

I should have mentioned that you could always ask on the two Sig forums as well--sigforum.com and sigtalk.com.

The sight is held onto the frame with a pretty decent sized screw. As a backup there's also a cross bolt with two C clips.

Does your gun need everything replaced?

It's been 14 months and counting from MD Charlton under warranty so far!

I think so... The screw you turn to adjust the rear sight that holds the sight blade appears to have stripped the base of the sight.

A lesson many of us here have learned, especially in Canada: Warranty is black hole. When you think about it, there really isn't much incentive to fix your gun for free or give you free replacement parts. In the US, there's millions of customers, so there's more urgency to get guns back into service, otherwise reputation and sales will be affected. In Canada however, it's hard to justify keeping a dedicated staff and parts inventory for the "not-so-numerous" X-Five owners in Canada.

For the next firearm you plan to purchase, you're going to determine the availability and affordability of spare parts before you buy.

Maybe if you want a high volume shooter for comps etc. Not if you are a collector of anything interesting.
