I have been looking online but so far had no luck in finding out if Sigarms makes or made a .308 semi auto available in Canada...

Does anyone know if one of these beauties exists in Canada?.... it would be the perfect rifle for hunting, varmints and fun !

Am I being fed a mislead because Rivteck is bored? Nice. CGN is supposed to be a community, not a cliq.

Oh well, I'll keep looking and ask locally then instead, face to face seems to get a smile and some info. See what I can find.

Yeah reddog is way off.

Coho the long and the short of it is: they're not here yet. I don't believe that a single rifle has touched down on Canadian soil yet. (would love to be proven wrong though)

We've had promises for years of the .308 SAPR. Tactical Imports has also looked at the Brazilian made FAME rifles in .308.

Im on the iPad right now, but ill see if I can dig up the thread.

TV I believe my link qualified for this. If this isn't what the OP was after it wasn't exactly what he asked.

The 'FAME'... hmmm I'll see what I can find, I don't mind doing the work of looking, don't need to be spoon fed, just wasn't finding any leads or clues.

All I have found so far is the Shot show 2011 displaying this :

Says they have it now in 7.62x51 as well as the x39. Maybe worth an email to IRUNGUNS.com

That is pure WIN TV-PressPass. Beer on me for that one . watching, reading & subscribed, I'll watch for the Sig 542's.

And I'll definitely go talk to CSC next few days...

you'll find details on the FAME version here: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?787767-FAMAE-SG-542-7-62x51

I haven't heard more than rumours about the true Swiss version in a long time actually. Might be worth talking to Marcus at the Calgary Shooting Center since you're in town here.

What you want to look for is the FAMAE SG 542. It's a Chilean made copy of the Sig SG 542. Should be available before the end of 2013.

There are no U.S. made x51 Sig Sauer rifles (other than the 716, which is a Restricted Ar variant), only the x39 556R which is a prohibited firearm. All U.S. made Sig Sauer 55X rifles are prohibited.

The short story is that a dealer in Canada has a SAPR 751 into the RCMP Firearms Lab and is waiting for a determination of classification.

It has been there for almost a year now and will likely take another year. In my opinion is has to do with the ability to make it go rat-a-tat-tat and sigarms certainly did not help matters by having a "voll automatische" (full automatic) upgrade option in their European Brochure.

Hehe...1 year...more like 4 years-in-the-making.
