SIGARMS different trigger style

I've seen two different trigger styles on the Sig P226 series of pistols. Most of them I've seen have the "beefier" trigger, and some I've seen recently with much skinnier triggers (Very thin front to back).

I'm shopping around right now looking to get a NIB Sig P226R .40 S&W and I was wondering about why they're two different styles of triggers found on the SIG's.

Are the slimmer triggers new production or something, or are they only on the RAIL models ???

AFAIK the thinner trigger is just to reduce the reach. because of the fat grip, DA can be a bit of a stretch for your trigger finger. the short trigger just reduces the distance between the back of the grip and the front of the trigger.

I believe you are refering to the Sig's short trigger. It's for shooters who find the original trigger too much of a reach. As far as I know, new Sig's don't come with them, it's something from their Pro shop you can order and install.

As above, optional piece of kit, usually sells for something like $60.

Shortens the reach by a few mms....someone here who has one can give more exact measurements.

Or were you holding a SIG with a DAK trigger? DAO and a very light 6.5 pound pull. Some SAS models and homeland security have them. The standard P226 has a 10 pound DA pull and 4.5 pound SA pull.

To me, thats what you're desribing. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I had a P229 that came with the short trigger, it was unusuable until I switched the trigger for the regular one. If your trigger finger is that short you will find the corner of the frame will dig into your finger. I don't think it's a particularly useful accessory, if you can't reach the regular trigger, I would suggest getting something bespoke with a shorter trigger reach.

most women that I've been with (?) have no problem with the standard trigger, the short one is truly for the very short fingered.
