sigh is it me my gun or my scope

i had my gun out to the range yesterday first time i had it out in over 3 months ...remengton 700 tac in 308 high setting rings and the scope is a accrue shot 8-32x56 swat scope first time i have had everything togother now i had the gun shooting goodish at 100 yards 3 shots inside a looney but it was shooting 1-1.5 inches to the left so i moved the turret some to move the crosshairs to the right 8 clicks (1/8th turrets) the next 3 shots never moved so i moved the turret to the right some more (about another 8-12 clicks ) the gun then shot right where i was aiming... the next 5 shots were about 9 inches apart .... there were 2 minute between each shot to allow the barrel time to cool....... I'm thinking maybe the scope is messed up... i did buy it used the guy said he used it on his 243 and his 260 said less then 400 rounds in total... could the scope be over used for recoil???? i sent a email to the manufacture and they said the scope was part of there hd lineup(heavy duty) and can handle a 416 .... the scope has not been dropped bumped and everything is still nice and tight

im waiting back to hear from them if the scope messed what it will cost to fix it ... or where the scope is more or less a no name scope should i just dish out $1000 and get a better scope(for what its worth im going to be shooting from 100-600 yards)
 
I don't know if I would rush out and spend $1000 on a new scope... I have a $100 Tasco 6-24x44 scope on my .223 and it works just fine... I know that the more expensive scopes are supposed to be better, but they can have problems too. That being said, I do prefer my Bushnell 4-12x40 scope over the Tasco for light gathering and ease of use.

When I get my long range rifle it will be getting a Bushnell Elite 6500 scope.
 
Hi Nova Scotian Guy.
Before you spend more money on a new scope. I remember hearing about some exercises you can put your scope through to prove its accuracy. I believe you take a series of shots while adjusting both your vertical and horizontal dials. The idea is to have the bullets impact in the four corners of a target and then return to zero (starting place) on the last shot. At least if you need a new scope you get to have a little fun with the old one before it retires.

I would be willing to bet that a scope as well-designed and well-built as that "Accushot" could handle all kinds of recoil, without losing one bit of its original precision.:)

If you want new glass (which might not be a bad idea) you should search on the EE for a used Bushnell 3200 10x. They're affordable and they hold their value well if you decide to upgrade later on. I don't think that I've ever heard anyone say anything bad about them.
