Hey guys, I need to ask what range is proper for a lets say 9mm out of the box to sight in and see where its shooting. I shot at 20 (exact) yards and the paper looked like it was shot with 00 buckshot at 30. I had the gun semi rested (not real steady). I was thinking maybe more like 10 yards or even 7? Also... I know different weight bullets will change this and that, I shot both 124 and 147 but no 115's..... anyone with a 9mm experience have a fav of the three or just find what the gun likes best? btw its a sr9. Thanks

Good question, I'd like to know too. I'm waiting for my ATT to take my new to me 226 to the range and want to know what's a good distance to sight in as well.

I start close in, perhaps 3 yards, then move it out if it's grouping well. I started this when I was sighting in a rifle that wouldn't even touch the paper at 10 yards. It turned out the sights weren't designed for that rifle, but the procedure stuck.

all depends on how far you want to shoot. And how gooda shot your are....once your past 5 yards or so, with 9mm it should be the same out to 30-40 yards

Great answers. I kinda thought 20 yards was far for a new gun. Next time at the range I will do 5 and 10 yards. Cocked and locked are 9mm that flat shooting out to 50yards....like lets say dead on @10? that's good to know......... thanks for the info.
