Does anyone know what the dovetail sizes are for the front and rear sights on the Norc Police model 1911 (yes, the front sight is dovetailed)? I'd like to pick up some tritium sights if I can.

Oh - I don't have it yet (ordered it from Canada Ammo) otherwise I wouldn't be asking. :D

I'm also looking for recommendations on good tritium fixed sights that don't require any alteration of the pistol. Any comments greatly appreciated.

I have a Norinco Police Model and will try to measure it for you.

I have the Norinco Police model and will try to measure the width of both the front and back dovetails for you using a caliper when I get home.

I don't know, however, what the standard measurements for aftermarket night sights , but I will look on the web and see what I can find out for you.

In the meantime, consider getting the pistol and shoot it before you decide to upgrade. The stock sights are pretty good. As a cheap solution, I put Nitesites (glue on luminencent stickers for sale on the web) and a dab of clear nail polish sealer (don't tell my wife I borrowed it;)) on the stock sights to make inexpensive night sights. They work fine for the range and don't come off even for vigorous cleaning.

I ordered Colt pattern after maket sights for my police model. the rear sight fit perfectly but the front sight dovetail was different. I don't know what model of front sight would fit. Am about to find out. i am dropping gin off with gunsmith to finish sight installation.

Front dovetail seems to be smaller than standard

As Ganderrite says, the front dovetails seems to be smaller than industry standard.

A gunsmith could open it up I guess or you could try to file it down to fit?

Both sound like tricky solutions. In the meantime I am going to stick with the glow in the dark sticker and fingernail polish solution.

Keep me posted, fellas and good shooting.

Both are good guns.

A commander from Frontier or a Police Model from Can Am will both serve you well. My Norinco Police Model is quickly becoming my favorite.

Have fun either way.
