Sight in a 30-30

How do you sight your 30-30 in?

I am accustomed to sighting in a bolt action 270 at 1.5 to 2 inches high at 100 yards for a 200 yard zero.

What is customary for the 30-30?

I could be shooting out to 125 yards with a scope-sighted Marlin.

Sight in 2.7" high at 100 to be on target at 150 with a 170 grain bullet. 2.4" high at 100 for a 150 grain bullet. It'll be close enough at 125 for deer sized game.
I'd be raising the POI of the .270 to 2.5" to 3" at 100 for a 130 or 140 grain bullet too. That'll put you on target out to 250 and close enough at 300 for deer. That's just me though.

I agree with Sunray - the approach he's outlined with with the 30-30 works well for the average shooter. With a bit more practice and using good handloads - 200 yard deer is not out of the question for an expert levergunner.

I sight all mine in zeroed at 100 yards. Your talking a 200 yard maximum rifle, no need to pretend it's a 300 yard rifle.
