Sight suggestions for full rail 8.5 grizzly

I'm going to be mounting a full rail on my 8.5" grizzly, and am looking for suggestions for rail mount fixed or folding sights. I don't plan on any optics at this point. I use the gun for bush carry for predator control, as well as the odd grouse if it's close enough, so my primary requirement is fast target acquisition and if it can also make an occasional accurate calculated shot then that's a bonus. Leaning towards folding to keep it compact for transport. I don't have much experience with different types of sights besides the original bead and a cheap red dot that won't hold zero, so I'm hoping people with similar set ups can share their take on sights.

Have a high tube adapter on it, so I think the AR style sights will work as far as height, but I'm not sure if they are appropriate for relatively close range shooting of (primarily) slugs? I can't seem to find any ghost ring sights that mount on a rail. Or is the larger aperture on these AR sights similar to a ghost ring you'd find on a shotgun?

same issue here, I was just going to use this cheap bushnell on mine... 100$ It's tiny with good reviews, so I don't know?

where the heck do you get top picatinny rails? for the 8.5 grizzly? without the side saddle? just the top scope mounts/rails?

Lpa makes a rail mounted rear ghost ring sight, but they are pricey

Might want to check out magpul folding mbus too, but the rear aperture is smaller than ghost rings

Overall I think your best bet would be to upgrade to a better red dot though

That could work, mine was a cheap ebay special designed for airsoft recoil I think, don't know what I was thinking! But I'd rather not use a red dot, unless I really can't get sights that work. I know lots of people use them successfully, especially the quality ones, but I'd hate to have an issue with the battery dying or forgetting to turn it on and realizing when it's too late. Although I guess you just add that to your checklist like loading/unloading and it becomes habit.

Don't think anyone makes full length rails, I ordered a 16" rail blank from S&J, and will figure out a way to mount it when it gets here. Probably similar to how they mount their full rail for the 12.5" barrel. But I may try to integrate a light, so I figured if I'm milling parts anyway might as well save some money and not just shorten the 12.5 rail, plus I wasn't sure the barrel clamp would be the right height.

Looks like it's ~$125, and I can't find a compatible rail front sight for it on their website?

Came across this as an interesting solution, but the guy never followed up with whether or not the front sight lined up with the rear for elevation.

I was looking at the mbus, troy etc but as you say the aperture is smaller. Maybe it's possible to enlarge the aperture if there's enough material around it. I'm assuming that's the only difference between ghost ring and those sights, or is the front post different too?

you could prob get a 2nd one for the front and cut the ring open or weld a post on

I like it too but there's no adjustment for elevation or windage then...

In my opinion the bushnell trs is a damn good red dot for the price, accurate small and quick and it will last you if you don't drop the shotgun upside down hahaha. I liked mine on my grizzly so much I bought an other one for my other shotguns. I think quick target acquisition is very possible with this sight but if you really just want "quick" iron sights you should of kept the bead.

That's good to know, how long do you find the battery lasts? I know the original bead is decent, but I have a folding stock on it with a high adapter which makes it impossible to get down comfortably on the bead.

Haha so I'm not the only one looking at sights on the dx site. What rear sight would you use with that? A fixed one like that is probably fine, but I would be a bit leery of the folding knock off sights, after my red dot experience. Although I'd be happy to be wrong on that one. But for now it's looking like I might have to suck it up and get some quality ones.

All I know is my batteries aren't dead yet, we'll see how long they last. It all depends on how much you use them. You could even get iron sights to co-witness.
