I have a Marlin 1895 in 45-70 and a 336 in 30-30.
Shortly after I bought the 45-70 the rear sight broke free and I replaced it with a similar rear sight.
A year or so ago I put a pair of Firesights on the 45-70. They are OK and relatively nice and low, but wondering if there is something better. Not convinced yet about the XS ghost ring sights but...
I put a cheap dot scope on the 30-30; It's OK but the sight is too high for my liking. Long way from any kind of cheekweld. I might go with a better scope but before I put some respectable amount of money out, is there a good cheekpiece that would fit on one or both of these?
Barring that, maybe stay with the idea of Ghost rings on both of these.
So what are your opinions??? The only thing to say for sure is I sure don't like the factory buckhorns on the 336.
