Sighted in my newest AR 15 build

25 yard zeroing when used to get on paper at 100m and further is fine.....shooting groups at 25m or 50m with a centerfire rifle is pointless to me as it is far to close to determine the rifles capability or your own....and I don't think that is setting the bar very high using 100m as a minimum distance. There should be a minimum accepted basic skill level when shooting centerfire....

Agreed as far as shooting at 100 meters for rifles, when I actually shoot a rifle for accuracy it's only at 100 meters or more.

Just understand that with an AR15 shooting the .223 Rem cartridge, a a 25 or 50 meters zero is ideal.
I have my A2 sights set for the improved modified battle zero, basically you calibrate/set the rear sight to bottom out exactly two clicks below the 3/8 on the dial. Then zero your rifle by adjusting the front post at 50 meters.
You can fine tune a nice very tight group at 50 meters, then using that sight set up you can shoot up to 200 meters with no more than a 2" maximum projectile rise.
That's A2 irons mind you, I don't shoot scopes at all but I would assume the principle would be the exact same.

If you are stuck with a 50m range you can still work on improving skills.....shoot standing/kneeling/prone, do snap drills, anything but benchrest. Practice until your groups are as good (or as close to) as what you can shoot off the bench.
