Good morning

Heading out tomorrow to break-in a new Loaded M14
Read a few posts and viewed a few youtube vids but I am little bit confused or I'm just over thinking.

I have a 100 yd range and want to sight in new rifle
I will be using 6 o'clock aiming position.
After I sight in at 100 yd I will calibrate my elevation drum.

My question is do I have to re-calibrate my sights and drum again at 200 yds or is the 100yd calibration sufficient for all distances after that?

Thanks

you would normally mark your elevation and traverse zeroed at 100, if you need to change either at any other distance you then know where zero is at 100 later on.

Read the following, it will answer your question.

Safe shooting.

If you zero at 100, and set the drum to 100, you will be approximately zeroed for other distances, when the drum is set to the appropriate setting.

However, a six o'clock hold at 100 will screw it up. Aim at 6 o'clock, but you must zero so that the bullets strike the target at the 6 o'clock.

If the bullets hit where you are aiming, the drum will adjust the elevation correctly for other distances.

Unless you are using military ball ammo, the zeros at longer distances will gradually fail, but your ammo should be quite close to at least 300 yards.

Edit: Zero at 100 so bullets hit the point of aim. If you want the bullets to hit the center of the target while you aim at 6 o'clock, after you have zeroed, set the sight to 200 or 300 yards, and then make a note of that setting. You will need to do the same at any other distance you want to use a 6 o'clock on.
