I just bought a Krinker Plinker and I have this problem with the front sights. I'm shooting way to low at about 15m. I did a search and somebody mentioned to screw the front sights in to compensate. Mine is already bottomed out and I'm still shooting low. Does anyone had to actually file the front sight to get to a decent zero? I just bought a Reddot from Cdn Tire and I'm having a hard time to believe it's not defective. My groupings at 15m is about 1/2" shooting from the bench. I think it's way too much for the distance or is it normal? What's the normal accuracy at that distance? Somebody posted a video shooting at 100m and hitting the plate everyshot. Right now it's shooting better open sights than with the red dot. What should I expect from a 100% stock Krinker Plinker. Thanks

This is the lenght of the fake silencer positioned at the same spot as when it's completely screwed in on top of the barrel.

Minute of popcan at 20m sounds about right. Hell, your red dot covers about an inch of target.....not exactly a precision rig. But then again, the krinker is not built for accuracy anyway.

To put it in perspective: I had a cheap 4X scope on my Buckmark carbine....it shot one hole all day long at 50m. I put a holosight (same principal as a red-dot) on the thing, now I shoot 1" groups at 25.

Try a higher velocity round such as .22 Thunderbolt. Balistics - velocity/energy - muzzle 1255fps/140ft lbs, 100yds 1017fps/92ft lbs and 3.6" drop at 100yrds. That should get you up a bit higher. I bought mine at Target Sports in Gormley, Ontario - 905 888-8288.

Umm....were talking about 15m here. I don't care if he hits 22/250 velocities....it aint gonna help.

I'd say your front sight block is too high. If you've used all the adjusment up, something is way out of alignment. What about the rear sight? If you can lift it, it would help with the front. Either that or your barrel is in crooked or that silencer is dragin her down!. Or the post is extra long. The easiest solution if the rear sight is fixed would be to get an extra front post( keep one original just in case you find what the true problem is) and file it down. Seat it at the top, then start turning it in. (Shooters add a little length to the posts when rifles shoot high) There is no real reason it should shoot so low. I have a small 22 pistol with 5"bbl that shoots to point of aim at 25m so barrel length doesn't come into play. I was wondering how long is the bbl? 16"? I like the look of that krinker! Hope you figure it out.. I don't think half inch groups(more than one!) are too bad. I'd be happy with that

Umm I would hardly say that any .22 rim fire would come even close to the velocities a 22-250 puts out. The thunderbolt is a good little cartridge, they are cheap and they have quite decent accuracy, I use them alot for plinking so they're worth a try.

Mine is like that too,not as bad as yours but still..i'm guessing you have a somewhat loose barrel fit in the reciever. The barrel gets pulled downwards by the clamp.Just knock a bit off the sight post with a dremel and it should be fine ;)

It's all those evil 16" barrels you got on there. Get the 8" and it'll put em in the same hole at 100m all day long ;)

A 12" plate at 100m with a dot should be easy. I put 50 rounds on the plate in a row, there was some wind, it shouldn't be hard for your 16" to do that.

Yes, higher velocity rounds would not work well for you at 15m. I think it may be due to the long and heavy barrel setup. I have the short barrel setup with the folding stock release welded and a fake flash suppressor pinned to keep length >660mm. It works fine for me at 25m. Perhaps you might consider investing in a red dot sight. Save the dremel as a last resort.

Sorry, um, you already have a red dot sight. Did you use threadlock on the screws for the rail mount? Did you use threadlock on the red dot sight mount? Even a cheap red dot sight should be better than the iron sights. Who knows though!

I disagree, I've got a cheap red-dot, all my ironsights work better when I take time to aim. I believe red-dot shows it's benefits in target aquistion, not accuracy.

As for the problem the original poster mentioned, his intended solution sounds quite reasonable, unsrew the sight slightly and then burr it down with a dremel coarse sanding wheel.

It's probably the least time consuming mod that can be done. Don't be afraid to grind a bit, it's a gun, not a museum peice. Just be careful to keep the metal grindings out of your mechanisms.

Failing that, I'd take Wrong Way's advice as gospel, he's got more guns than North Korea.

P.S. Congratulations on your new Krinker, it looks really nice, I hope you have alot of fun with it.:dancingbanana:

Ok guys, with the help of some of the CGN members I was able to fix the sighting in. In the 10/22 sticky's it's mentionned that if your barrel is a bit loose the clamp will actually pull the barrel down. It's exactly what was happening. I put in a layer of thin coming from a pepsi can underneath the barrel and it became real snug. After this I tried it again and i was only about 1.5" low at the same distance compare to 6" low from before. That's perfect to start. After that i filed the front sight just a bit with the dremel and i brought it to zero like that. Just perfect. Now i have to play with that red dot and put some loctite to see if everything is ok. Open sight i can hit pretty consistently my gong of 8x10" at 100yds. If somebody is interested to have some pics of that I can put some here or email them to whoever would like them. Thanks to everybody.:dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:
