Sightron 3-16x42

So after some more time behind the 3-16 I'm getting used to the eye relief and really enjoying this scope. I agree that sometimes that very small aiming dot disappears into the target but like Jerry said, just use the rest of the reticle to quarter it or change the magnification a little and you can still aim very precisely.
So far i still haven't done any shooting past 100yds but at 100 i can spot my holes from the 6.5 creedmore and the image is really crisp. I think I'm getting pretty close to having a load developed for my MH so it hopefully won't be much longer till I'm in the field with it doing some coyote hunting.
I was considering swapping it out for my NF 3.5-15x50 but at 30oz compared to the 23oz of the Sightron I think I'll just leave things as is.
I think the next step will be to swap out the Burris PEPR QD mount for some lighter rings and then move on to fiddling with my other rifles as this one is getting to be pretty much perfect.

I have a 3-16x42 installed on a Tikka T3-Lite and so far am really happy with it. I went with the MOA reticle which is pretty versatile, but it is hard to get oriented quickly when the target area is dark. I will be using the scope for hunting as well as paper/steel so on balance probably should have gone with the duplex reticle. I guess the ideal combination would have been the MOA reticle with short heavy bars around the outside.

The glass / image quality seems good to me, and a number of shooters (with more expensive scopes) took a look and also seemed to think it was pretty good. Eye relief is nice although as others have mentioned it can take a second to find the right place to hold your head.

I was doing a rush-rush sighting in & load-development effort just before heading out to Boomershoot and was having trouble moving the impact point to the left initially, but gave it a good crank left then right and it seemed to be OK and held zero well over a few days of shooting and dialing in a lot of elevation changes.

Have 3 Sightrons now and not a prob, had two Vortex 4x16 moa both returned for warranty not in same class as Sightron!

As for eye relief , if it is set for what shooting position in mid zoom number there is no prob but if you have a different shooting positition it will change a little, it is all about you head position not a scope problem!

That's one of the biggest reasons I've held off buying, I'm also interested in the 2.5-17.5, but st twice the price this 3-26 is appealing.

If you want to line up a time to come out to my place you're welcome to run some rounds through my MH and see if you like the scope before spending the cash.

3-16×42 with capped turrets and no illumination or zero stop is too tactical for your tastes? Hmmmm, you may have to look at a Leupold 3-9×40 with a duplex reticle and gloss finish :p
