Last month I decided to try a sightron 36x brd scope after all the hype about them being great for a dedicated bench set up.I'm not sure if its my 55 yr old eyes but I just couldn't get used to the tiny dot and fine x hairs.I gave it a fair shake at 2 outings.I decided to cut my losses and sold it on the EE.I went back to my old standby the Vortex HST 6-24x50 that I bought used off the EE last fall.I also found that the slightest movement on the 36x would have the tiny dot bouncing around distracting me.I have a sightron bigsky 6-24 duplex on my 455 varmint and I like that reticle as well.
Here are the results of before and after with the 2 different optics. For those that think the challenge is doable with a sub par rifle think again.I had almost perfect conditions this am and only my last target was good enough for the challenge .I also used my old batch of centre X on the last target as the Annie loves that batch.I have yet to do the challenge with my new batch but getting very close.
I have a new 64 MPR coming soon from Prophet River and can't wait to try it vs the old girl.
