Hey just wondering about people experiences with sightron. I'm a firm believer that leupold scopes kick ass and have not tried anything that will really make me jump ship on that . Not trying to promote or knock any brands but leupold is what works for my eyes. Im wondering if anyone has any comparison of a leupold mark 4 to a Sightron s3 . I know both are very good scopes but I'm just wondering about people opinion in a honest manner, not arguing that the glass they are running is the best . Don't know if I'll get anything useful out of this as I realize it is all opinion .

Leupold mk6 or 8 series are worth the money, the other lines are over priced. I do not own any sightrons but the ones I have used and handled were nice and tracked properly.

what he said^^

got several varix &vx3 6.5-20s. All bought off the EE for very good prices. Got 1 s3 new. The glass on the sightron is noticeably clearer, as tested by me using an eyechart at 200 at silverdale. Only drawback for me on the S3 is the lack of options on reticles, would have preferred a TMR style reticle instead of plain mildot. If buying new then the S3 is a much better deal, if you can get a similar vx3 or mk4 used for under 800 then it becomes a toss up.

Tagged, I'm very close to trying out the Sightron SIII 1-7x24, and the $875.00 would be the most I've ever spent on a scope.

IMO Leupold is an overpriced brand now. I think Sightron is between Leupold and Nightforce.
Any high power Sightron is almost half the price of Nightforce. However one thing Leupold has that the other don't is Ultra light scopes.
I really like my 3x9 ultralight.
