Sightron Red Dot

Anyone have a Sightron 1-7x?

I was using one yesterday and it had a single red dot in the centre of the reticle which I could clearly see in the darker areas but once I took aim downrange in the bright/sunny conditions it vanished

My gut feeling is that the red dot tapers off as opposed to simply being overwhelmed by the bright conditions - can anyone confirm?

Is it the Sightron III 1-7x24?

If so, seems like the red dot does fade out with bright light.

Yes it was the older SIII 1-7X, the article mentions that this would be addressed/improved in 2013 - does anyone know if the newer models are the same or does the red dot still fade away in bright light?
