I thought I should let everyone know about my dealings with Sightron via Hirsch Precision.
First, and foremost, rest assured that Hirsch Precision (Peter and Donna) provided stellar service.
They are both professional and a real pleasure to deal with. Both went to bat
for me when dealing with Sightron. My congratulations to both.
I'll keep my report short and sweet.
Purchased a Sightron 20X50X60 many years ago, excellent scope, very happy with it.
A few years ago, my basement shelf colapsed and damaged the scope.
It was sent to Sightron and was repaired, new parts and a complete test, the price for the repairs
was suprisingly low.
Unfortunatly, the side focus was VERY difficult to turn and there was a spec of dust left
on the inner lens. The point of clear focus also shifted, and was not centered within the tube.
(Many shooters tried it, and confirmed the problems)
I advised Hirsch Precision that next time it needs repair, I would like it fixed.
They offered to send it back, and repair it, I decided to wait.
Skip forward a few years.
Decided to send my scope in for repairs to side focus and the shifted point of clear focus.
With the boxed scope and copy to Hirsch Precision was a letter explaining that I would
like a few minor cosmetic problems repaired, since these repairs are not covered by warranty,
I offered to pay for them. My request was clear: "I would like the scope to look new as well
as perform like new, if this service is available, please charge my Visa card.
Please take all the time you need, as I will not be using my scope till next year"
The scope was returned in short order with a repair report. It was checked and no problems found.
The side focus was repaired and is now much easier to use.
The spec of dust is still there, clearly visible. The point of clear focus is STILL shifted off center axis.
None of the cosmetic repairs I asked for were considered or offered.
I again contacted Hirsch Precision and again, I was asked to send it back for further repairs.
I decided to sell the scope, with full disclosure, and purchase a Night Force from Hirsch, of course.
Since this is NOT a complaint but simply a report, I would again, like to thank Donna and Peter for
all the work involved and for putting up with me.
CGN'eners, please let me know what you think, was I unreasonable?, too demanding?, Anal? High expectation?
Any comments would be appreciated, and please respect the great service provided by Hirsch, there are only
so many strings they can pull.
Cheers,
