Hey guys-I'm closing in on this as the next scope for light target/fairweather varmint shooting. That is, if I can find one. lol Wondering if any of you have this scope, if you think the reticle is too fine/too busy, etc. Interested in any opinions on the S-TAC in general. Seems to be lots of love for them. I have an S1 on my gopher gun, and an SIII on my 204R. If the glass/reticle is anywhere near as nice as the SIII, I'm sold.

Opinions?
 
I have that exact scope on my T1X .22LR. The reticle is ok for target work. Not too fine and not too thick and a nice center dot for aiming - not busy at all. 2 MOA hash marks at max power - 1 MOA would be better in my opinion. The one I have is SFP so I most of the time I am on 16X magnification. Apparently there is a FFP model now as well but I have not seen one for sale. I am running a 20 MOA rail so I can reach out to 300 m if I need to. The glass is not as good as an SIII, but decent in normal and bright light. STACs use Philippines glass and SIIIs Japanese glass - thus the difference. There is an issue with the amount of eye relief on max power - not much there. It holds zero like super glue. Tracks good but not perfect if you are making large adjustments. If you are using holdovers most of the time then it is not much of an issue. A good sturdy scope with no frills and the 42 mm objective means you can mount it lower than some others - which I like. A great value at that price point.

Thanks Walterfisher-actually, you're only the second guy I know who calls them "Walters". lol Yeah, the SIII is maybe the nicest scope I've used, and I've been behind more expensive ones. Scratch that, I once tried my buddies Swarovski... lol SHOULD say, I've been behind SOME that cost more than the SIII, but I didn't find to be as clear. At the price point, everything I've read sounds good/reliable, but it's small limitations are what have me feeling I don't want to over-spend on one either. Goal is to put it on my CZ527 in 17Hornet, and for my purposes...shots will mostly be under 200 yards. Maybe it's age, maybe it's my vision (or both) but I'm enjoying 1" tubes a little less in recent years. 30mm will probably look to big on this gun, but I'm the guy behind the thing..and I want to like what I'm seeing when it's time to hit the go button. :)

In my personnel opinion I wouldnt worry about what it looks like on ur rifle but rather how it looks thru your rifle. I have an S Tac 4-20 on my TC Icon 22-250 and its an awesome scope. Do I own better? Hell yeah but for the money that thing is dope and check Tesro cuz he has them on real sales quite often. I dont think youll regret ur decision
