Hi

I have a rifle built just for practice. Mostly a Frankenstein thing built with used parts from here and my basement over the last years.

the opic is a Sightron SIII 8-32X56
never had issue with it and liked it so far...
but last time I did go to the range with a friend we did compared are scopes.
He had 2 rifles, one with a Leupold VX-5 and a second with a Vortex eagle strike.
When we did switch i did get a cold and sour shower... my lens is so "creamy", like nothing compare to both of is scopes.
I won't say it doesn't feel clear, just "creamy" like yellow filter.

Is this normal?

thanks

have owned 2 S3 6-24. First one was older SFP model and then second was the "new" FFP model. I found the FFP model had slightly brighter image and eventually sold the SFP model. Both were great, but one was a little better, maybe due to newer glass?

I’ve had both scopes but not at the same time to compare, the SIII moved on before the VX5 showed up.
I found the Sightron an excellent scope and had no issues with it.
The VX5 is also an excellent scope.
So you could have an issue with your scope or it’s also possible the Leupold is just optically superior (?).
I find myself wary of trying someone else’s kit if I can’t either afford to replace it or plan to buy it…more than once I’ve tried something not mine and realized I had to buy it (and sometimes it works the other way happy I avoided a costly mistake).
If you’re planning a change anyway, then great.
If you’re happy with what you have then be prepared as this could be at play.
If it’s something you can afford then all fun and games, if it isn’t then it’s just not the best feeling to cope with, lol…

Ok I'll try to get a picture from one of my Monarch 3 hunting rifle same zoom and the Sightron.

Wasrupzuk, I don't plan to buy or upgrade anything lol! this rifle is really for practice purpose. close to 24lbs 52 inch long, it can't be used to hunt and I don't have access to range over 300m here...so this scope do the job really well.
But if it need a warranty fix it will sure make a trip for it!

all 3 at 8X zoom at the same place to the same branch
clearly the picture aren't good enough to show the reality
but the S3 was WAY better looking than both Monarch3
so first pic S3 @8X
second Monarch 3 2.5-10x50 @8X
last Monarch 3 4-16x50 @8x

I guess my scope is just perfect and I compared it with with bigger tube and newer scopes

What is the distance to the branches?
Then, what is the set parallax distance of the different scopes?
Not knowing here, but I kind of doubt any manufacturer is ever really precise about how they set a parallax,
may range from 90-110 ? idk if it matters

it wasn't really far... like 20 meter
parallax was set to minimum except the 2.5-10X50 since it's a fix parallax scope
