Sightron scope feedback

I'm tempted to upgrade from my 5.5-25x56FFP Falcon to a 8-32x56 Sightron.

Anyone had a chance to compare these two scopes, side by side??

Peter, Jerry any of you guys have one available for sale at the moment? If not what sort of timeline am I looking at here before I can get my hands on one?

Will have more shortly.

The SIII series has a 1 piece tube. The 10-50 is supposed to have a 1pc but it looks like it is two. Not a big deal given that target shooters will be using it so will not subject to 'harsh' environments. Performance of this super high mag scope has been superb.

When conditions allow, I can see 6.5 cal holes in the white at 500m. I can aim on the scoring lines of the new ICFRA target and that line is 5/32" wide (500m target) even when mirage is quite high.

All others are 1pc.

I don't want to seem harsh on the Falcons because they are a decent scope with many popular features for the money spent.

But optically, there is no comparison. The SIII's are a better product BUT they are also approx twice the price.

If you make the investment in one, you will be very happy at all distances but it really shows up the further you go. Tracking has also been really good which is so important when dialing for various distances.

I think the comparison should be with Sightron to scopes costing upwards of 2 1/2 times as much.

Now things get very interesting.

As to the SIII in a 14 to 16X type mag range? You would think it would be a natural. Nothing on the horizon right now but I am sure new products are slated and they are just waiting for production of existing stuff to fall inline with demand.

Hard to imagine they are also not thinking different reticles and FFP stuff. Demand is simply way too high to not get in that game.

have a look at this scope. The optics are again, superb and you really get to see ALOT for only 10X. For mid to long range shooting, I can't think of a better scope. It is also suprisingly small, light and compact. Would be great on a Hunting rig

I would say you will see more with this scope then many scopes with higher mag.

Of course, there is the 4.5X14 SII Big Sky with side focus that should be considered. I am really impressed that the quality of this family is also top notch. I am fast recommending these few products as my favorite 1" scope.

I have the SIII 3.5-10x44 MD that Jerry links too. I bought it from him (excellent service, by the way!). It has not seen any hard use yet, but I do not baby it either. It is in a drag bag and gets tossed from storeroom to car to trunk to range and back again- Without a thought. Once work is done I will start dragging it through the field every other day.

I am very happy I went with the Sightron. No regrets at all. I won’t repeat all the positives other have already mentioned. I will add that the reason I went with Sightron was because I never read a negative review or comment about them. This combined with price and a warranty service equal to Leupold’s convinced me to buy.

If it matters, Everyone at the range always compliments the scope too. ;)

I just bought my 3rd sightron from Jerry, its the SII 6.5-20x50 side focus.

The other two I had and have since sold were the SII 3-9x42 and the SII 4-16x42.

Overall, Id say the mil dots were pretty large, but Im not sure how this compares to other scopes. If you think you don't need mil dots and prefer a cleaner reticule, then go with the target dot or FCH.

The only problem I had with these two sightrons was edge distortion at extreemly low mag on the 4-16x42 only. It was pretty annoying but like I said, only at 4x magnification and only for the 4-16x42

Also, I found the turrets to be extreemly tight and inconsistent, where tightness was a function of where the turret was set (as in at zero or far left/right). The clicks were also more/less audible at certain rotational possitions.

Hopefully I just got bad scopes (they were from the states...). I am very excited to recieve my 3rd sightron from Jerry, along with the other scope telated tidbits I ordered from him.

HD, the SII and SII Big Sky are of course, their lower priced scopes. Optics in the SII Big Sky will impress you as they use the same tech as found in their larger cousin the SIII LR.

The turrents are better in the SII Big Sky but they are still a bit mushy. They work and track great which is all I care about. So does the side and eye piece focus.

For best tactile and audible turrents, the SIII gets the nod but that comes with a higher price tag.

I am sure you will find your new scope to your liking.

Sorry I forgot to specifiy that the other two scopes were Big Sky brands as well.

The 3-9 had 1/4" clicks with the finger reseatble, non-target knobs, and the 4-16 was target knobs 1/8" clicks resetable with the alan key.

In no way was I seriously dissapointed but I am still pretty stoaked to see what a $700 scope looks like compared to the less expensive ones.

I have the 8-32 Fine on my 300wm. A friened and I have compared it side by side to a NF 8-32 and its tough to tell which one is clearer. I would say thought that the colors are brighter through my Sightron (not really an issue in a scope) but overall I'm very impressed. I shot a Box group with it to see how well it tracked and it perfomed great. For the money, I think its worth a look.
