Sightron SIIB 6-24x42?

Anyone using one of these? I am seriously looking at one but am not sure what reticle to go with. The dot , mill dot or duplex? It will be going on a Mark II TR for 50 and 100 yds bench shooting. What would you suggest? Also does anyone happen to know of any reviews that might have some detailed photos of one or even some look through photos?

I have just set up a Savage mkII for my rimfire practise rig for the off season. I have a SIIB 36X42 and the FCH. Love it. Optics is fantastic and tons of resolution.

For true F class practise, I should have gone with the SIIB6x24 you are thinking about. But I already had the scope.

I know you will be thrilled by both the optics and tracking of the scope.

If this is pure paper punching, I would vote for the FCH - I prefer to hold off. If you prefer to dial, then the target dot will work very well.

The mildot is also really nice for quick windage adjustments and I use it for field shooting.

I had the 4-16x42 mil dots and thought it was pretty good. The mil dots were alot bigger than I thought and made the reticule look very busy.

My next Sightron is the massive SIII 8-32x56 FCH reticule. I'm looking forward to the simple reticule, allthough it might mean making instant corrections harder... Im not too worried about it.

Either way Im sure you'll be ahppy with the Sightron. Don't stress out about what one is perfect. The main issue is making sure it matches your budget. Everyhting else is less important imo.
 
Sorry, I thought they also had a FCH in this scope but they don't. The target dot would be the next best thing.

HD, the FCH is wonderful for punching paper as you can use the rings for quick adjustment. Not as easy in the field. I prefer the mildots here.

Let me know if I can set you up with one of these scopes.

As of right now, only 2nd focal plane.

But given the success of their new gen scopes, I am sure they are looking at various markets and the tactical arena is wide open.

All they need are more appropriate reticles, some new tweaks to their turrents and away they go.

Their glass and tracking is going to put alot of heat under some ubber pricey scopes.

Hopefully, there will be more good news at SHOT this year.

Mystic, I was looking through your site (and Sightron's) do they not currently offer turret clicks in Mils? I could get on board for sure if they had that and made a FFP scope. Heck, I'd probably get on board if they only added one or the other ;)

I think the optics are better than my Nightforce. And not by a small margin. But the NF is definitely built better/tougher and has nicer adjustments. But for the price I think my SIIB is hard to beat. Also enjoy the close focus, as it went on my .22 as well
 
Have you used any of the SIII? Would you say that the $1000 Sightrons are worth the cash or do you think the more expensive they get, the less you get for your money compared to the NF?
 
JC, have you been beating on your scopes again :)

The durability side of the Sightron is still unproven as they are really 1 yr old. But the volume of sales has been solid and the US has been gobbling them up like crazy.

With a good number in use, there have been little to no neg posts on various boards I check from time to time.

The 50BMG assoc have a magazine and there was a review of a Sightron scope (I have not seen the article). It got rave reviews. I really don't think these scopes are any less durable then a NF.

The Glass is certainly better.

What I also know is that the tracking is second to none. I twirl my scope turrents alot for all the LR and F class shooting I do. The scopes have been dead on and track with absolute precision and repeatability.

I love them....

HD, I got into selling these Sightron SIII LR because I did a side by side comparison between the NXS 6.5-22 and the SIII LR 6-24 (I had the first one in Canada).

At just under 1100yds, there was no comparison between the two. The SIII was tangibly better in all areas I care for in scope optics.

So compared to the NF which was 2.5 times as expensive, the SIII was a superior buy.

Nice things for less money than the competition, thats why I bought a Sightron and a Savage:)

...(and a Chinese shotgun, but thats like, apples to oranages:) )

Its just the carpenter in me speaking. I have an eye for the destructible, as I destroy a lot :p
 
I own 2 24X big sky
one is fix 24X with a dot reticule
and one 6-24X42 Duplex big sky

I havent mounted the variable yet still NIB, I need a gun to put it on , but the 24X been tested on my AR15 and I love it.
I tried some leupold and burris and I like my Sightron better.
when I look thru the window my 6-24X42 is a very clear scope

buy one you wont regret it

I own a 6-24 SIIB Silhouette. I like it. I use it for smallbore silhouette, and am constanstly using the turrets. The turret adjustments are rather spongy, but acurate just the same.

I'm quite pleased with it optically. It was also an excellent buy price wise.
