Yesterday at the Sightron website sightron.com I saw the SIII 20x42 MMD.

It seems to be almost identical to the "Super Sniper" 20x42 made in Japan and imported originally by Tasco. I understand that later the SS scopes were imported by Bushnell but were made elsewhere in the Orient.

Both scopes have a rear adjustment ring for focus and parallax. The SS has a Mildot reticle, while the SIII has hash marks between the Mildots.

The SS has about 90 MOA of reticle adjustment available, but I see that Sightron claims 150 MOA for all three of its scopes: 10x, 16x and 20x.

A Japanese Tasco SS has worked out well on a .45-70 Pedersoli rolling block with 30" heavy barrel. Several Weaver bases, of various heights, fit the receiver and octagonal barrel, so with Burris Signature 30mm rings (with pivoting inserts) it has been possible to select the heights of the bases to put 500 gn bullets on point of aim at even 700 meters (though not at 100 meters with the same bases).

I don't know whether or not non-Japanese SS scopes are of equal quality.

I wonder if the Sightron really has 150 MOA of adjustment and how it otherwise compares to the SS and to the Leupold 16x.

To compare relative prices at the same dealer, at SWFA.com I see the Sightron 20x42 priced at $549.95, the SS 20x42 at $279.95 and the Leupold 16x40 at $1,599.95.

We are dealing directly with Mr. Orr, Sightron USA, www.sightron.com, tel 1.800.867.7512and as recently as last week, advised that he has never heard of Jerry or his company, but perhaps he is dealing directly with Japan or from an unauthorized subdealer?

As we are about to be an official Sightron distributor, it would be nice to know where everyone stands, especially customers.

Regards,

Peter

All my products are legally imported and fully supported.

Surprised Mr. Orr didn't send Peter to their Cdn distributor? Interesting....

Give me a PM or email if you have questions.

I just had some in and they went out to customers. A well put together product. Optically a step up from the SS.

With all the Sightron scopes I have used, tracking and optics exceed their price point.

Very impressive product.

I just bought a 6x24x50 Sightron from Mystic and have nothing but good things to say about his service. My first impressions of the scope is very promising so now I just have wait to get my barrel/brake back from the smith to test it.

My SIII 20x42 is in the mail....if fact I think it may be in tomorrow. I'll post about it when it when comes in.
