In the market for a new scope and I'm not sure if I should go vortex pst or a sightron model. The vortex model I have been thinking of is the Viper PST FFP MRAD 6-24 x 50mm. I would have to look at Sightron ' s site again to see which model matches that one. I have never had any hands on with either scope so I am trying to make the best educated decision.

Played with the Vortex. Bought a Sightron.

The Vortex is heavier, in looks and weight. But it was too busy in set up, glass nowhere near as clear.

Colour separation was SLIGHTLY better than the Sightron at max mag. BUT Small Details were crisp on the Sightron at max mag, and the Vortex could not resolve them at all.

Both are good.

I prefer the clarity, and intuitiveness of the Sightron. Bought it, and no regrets. I like is to much, I will be purchasing another in short order.

Sightron are the better scope - simple. The Vortex PST is, amongst the Vortex line, the best balance between price and features but the Sightron is the superior. One area however where Vortex is an industry leader is in its warranty - does not get better than what they offer.

Thanks for the info guys. Now would you still choose the Sightron if the price on the vortex was say around $900 vs the sightron at $1200+?

I own a Vortex PST 6-24x50mm and it is really nice.

A good point about Vortex is the unconditionnal lifetime warranty!!!

Don't know much about Sightron.

Viper PST sfp 6-24X50 is $1050.00
Sightrin SIII sfp 6-24X50 LRMOA is $1160.00
For a hundred bucks I would definately go with the Sightron

If Sightron are so good...why is it nobody stocks their optics? Ive have never seen one in any shop Ive visited and the dealers who have them never keep stock. They may be a clear scope but they sure don't know how to market and get a product in customers hands and warranty is weak.
I thought about one for my winter coyote rig but ...no stock and not carried anywhere so I bought a Swarovski Z5. Just bought a target .223 was gonna buy a 6-24 Sightron after all the buzz here...and surprise surprise no stock at the whopping 2 dealers in Canada, I went with a Bushnell DMR and couldnt be happier.

Cheers!!

Love my Vortex PST, is it the best scope on the market, it's not... does it do it's job, yep!

When I was looking, it was the best price quality option for a FFP scope.

scott_r. makes a good point but there is no disputing - at least in my mind - that the scopes are good quality with some ( like 8-32x56 ) being really, really good. I can't speak to the distribution network but the product is certainly worth owning. Having said that, you also made a good choice with the Bushnell Elite DMR scope.

Because they always sell out. I'm super happy with all 3 of mine.

One problem with sightron is it makes the step up to a NF NSX kind of dissapointing. :)

fyi, there's a lot more than 2 dealers for Sightron products in Canada.

Ok so add 8 more and they have no or next to no stock. For such a great product why no stock? They certainly arent a high end product like S&B which is limited, they are in direct competition with Vortex PST's which are in every store, why not try and get your product out? Just doesn't make sense.
Not saying they arent good just puzzles me why nobody wants to carry them.

Cheers!!

The longest I have waited for a Sightron is 12 days. PRetty hard to stock something that is VERY popular :)

Here is a good test. Go on EE and look at used SIGHTRON scopes... you might find 20 listings. Do the same for Vortex and you will find triple+ the listings. Why is that? Are people unhappy with the product, or are upgrading?

Once you have really good glass, you never part with it. Buy Once, Cry Once.

As for Schmit and Bender, that is a whole different kettle of Fish. You are now comparing a Lamborghini Aventador to a Corvette Z06.

EVERYONE wants an Aventador, but high price and limited availability limits their target market. The Z06 on the other hand provides 80% of the performance for 1/5 the price. What is not to like, and it certainly explains the popularity of the Sightron offerings.

Did some searching online today. I can get the Sightron SIIISS 6-24X50 LRFFP/MH from Hirsch Precision for about $1550 with tax plus shipping or the Vortex PST FFP MRAD 6-24 x 50mm for just over $900 picked up. That's a pretty big difference. I'm all for going with the sightron I just wish I could have hands on first.

I hear lots of good thing about Sightron. The one thing that stops me from buying one is there reticle's, or I should say the lack of. When they offer the H59 I would most likely give them a try.

I will only chat about myself... get a bunch.. sell a bunch. Sightron USA sells out cause of their demand around the world

We all wait for more to be produced. When they show up, see line one.

Will have scopes when I return.... then I will not... then I will.... :)

It's all good.

I was going to buy a Vortex, but I was swayed after I looked through a Sightron.

I would like the mildot reticle (haven't seen one), but I've heard that the dots are too big. Can anyone confirm or deny? I mainly shoot 100 to 300 yds., either off a bench or prone, but I'd like to reach out some day. I do want SFP, and I'd probably be just as happy with the LRMOA. I agree with above posts that its crappy that we can't go to a store to look through these things. It's taken me a long time to save for a decent scope and I don't want to make a mistake.

Anyway, between Vortex and Sightron... Sightron all the way for me... C.
