If you are buying a used Sightron scope that originated from an authorised Canadian dealer, why wouldn't it be covered (unless of course it was abused, run over by a truck, etc, etc)? Ask the seller to send you a copy of the invoice.
We keep records so the seller can get another copy... not a hard thing to do. It just takes an email request.
If the used scope was part of the grey market import from the US without proper import documentation and clearance with the US govt, well, now you got a problem...
The US govt requires ALL scopes to be papered in and out of the US. If we cannot show the scopes was properly and legally exported, how do we ship back to the US for warranty work?
For those that bought scopes from US dealer(s) and have no formal import paperwork, they would need to contact that US dealer and figure something out.
This rule applies to EVERY scope that reenters the US for warranty work. Not our rule... we are just following Uncle Sam's regs.
So the real question is does the used scope needing US warranty support come with proper paperwork? And this applies to ALL brands including Leupold, Zeiss, Nightforce, Burris, Nikon, Trijicon, EOTech, what have you...
Ask Nikon Canada and Korth/Leupold their feelings on warranty support for scopes they didn't import and distribute in Canada.
