Sightron Warranty, the Reality

Don't recall saying I do know of any. Every scope manufacturer that I own with the exception of Burris has a Canadian repair or replacement facility.I know that it is a huge pita to have a Burris warrantied and I am not looking forward to it if the need arises. Regardless, the 10 yr international warranty on Sightron is enough to steer me away. I'm not implying that Sightron is bad optics at all,In fact ,I'm sure that they are nice quality optics. However, some here are implying that they are fail proof. Bs, there is no such optic. Some here have even made the inference that if an optic comes with an exceptional warranty,it is likely junk.Again, that's Bs.

It is not 10 years it a lifetime warranty . It is right on their site.

I sent my SIII back to Peter after my rifle fell off the bench and damaged the scope. Totally my fault :(
I was very happy with the way Sightron handled it.
A+ to Sightron and Hirsch

Lifetime warranties can be a slippery slope.

First and foremost, manufacturers/retailers have to make a profit to stay in business, you HAVE to keep that in mind at all times.

A lifetime warranty on a product which sells for very low profit/markup, better be good quality and reliable or else the warranty work will put someone out of business in a hurry.

A lifetime warranty on a product that can be manufactured and sold at very high profit margins is much easier to handle.
Some manufacturers will replace an item for life if you send it to them with a "shipping/handling fee", usually very reasonable compare to the original price.
The catch is that YOU are paying for the replacement item with the "shipping/handling fee".

Can you imagine how many times a manufacturer will replace an item that costs $25.00 to manufacture and sells for $200.00
if you send a cheque along for $35.00 to cover "shipping/handling"..?????

Just my weird and convoluted way of looking at it. YMMV

I don't understand why a receipt is needed to show proof of purchase in Canada.
I don't have a Nikon or Sightron scope (just Leup and Zeiss) but don't they have serial numbers on them?
Are you telling me the manufacturer doesn't know which ones were sent to Canadian Retailers and which ones were not?
I find that hard to believe.

Funny thing. When I googled sightron international warranty,it came up from Hirsch Precion's site and clearly stated 10 yrs on scopes for outside US customers.I read it under another site as well so ,just for sh*ts and giggles, I emailed sightron last night and the responded this morning that the scopes are covered for lifetime as long as it is sent back thru a sightron distributor. So apparently,as long as there is an authorized distributor up here, sightron owners are covered. I should add, that abuse is not covered and she made no mention of a receipt requirement.

Please read policy on start of thread.
Having a receipt helps to determine if scope was legally imported. May have mentioned this previously.
