Looking at long range scopes for some bench shooting. The big names are out of reach money wise so looking at scopes around 1k. I see lots of Vortex, Bushnell etc.. but am looking at Sightron SIII 's.
I just want decent optics and a good sturdy scope that won't eff up. No need for lights, and door dads. Dependable, predictable adjustments and decent clarity at high magnification. Is Sightron a good choice ?
Any and all oppinions and advice appreciated.
My oldest SIII 8-32x56 is going on 9 years old. Possibly 10... Jerry would know I am sure. Has seen duty on a number of rifles, mounted and remounted a dozen times (from selling the gun out underneath it) taken it hunting, varminting, everything from a 7mm rem mag to a .22lr Not one hiccup. both the cosmetics, mechanicals and glass have been stone axe reliable.
I also have a 4 or 5 year old SIII 6-24x50 that is amazing in FFP.
Then I have the 2 STAC 1-7 scopes on my AR15 and Vector 10mm. both pieces are 4 years old, and doing very well.
In short, Love the product, no eyestrain, rock solid. What I don't like is the new pricing that keeps going up, but what can you do. EE is your friend.
Highly recommended, and while I do not use my scopes as a hammer, they hold up to rough use with aplomb.
Warranty? Pretty Fantastic. However, I can't tell you much about it, as none of my scopes have needed to go in for any reason. Which is very good for me. I hate sending stuff out on an RMA.
EDIT: I recently found a 10-50x60 Sightron... lol, Jerry had one on his FT/R Rifle. god only knows what the scope went through or the round count. But when he indicated he might part with it, I did not hesitate. Yes, they are that good.
