I've been toying with the idea of buying a Baikal combination rifle/shotgun for hunting lately, specifically a 12ga/.308 model. However, I'm not sure what sights/optics would be useful to have on such a gun. Obviously a scope would be ideal for shooting the rifle barrel at range, but it would make shooting birds difficult. Conversely, a bead sight would be great for shooting birds, but would be inconvenient for shooting the rifle at any significant distance.
Are there options for a quick-detach scope that would hold its zero? Would I have to settle for iron sights or just re-zeroing the rifle at the end of waterfowl season? I apologize if the answer is painfully obvious, I'm still pretty new to all this.
