I want to use my M&P 40 for IPSC but I want to change the sites to the fibre optics ones, does anyone know if I use aftermarket sites will I still be able to shoot in production?

From "IPSC HANDGUN RULES, JANUARY 2006 EDITION
JULY 2006 INTERPRETATIONS"

11. In respect of Appendix D4 Point 20.2, the expression "same type and kind" means "any open sights" (see Rule
5.1.3.1).

So, yes.

at this time, as long as you don't modify the slide, you can put any sights you want on any production gun.

The point being..... if you shoot mostly indoors, they are a waste of money. IMHO.

The point being..... try before you buy.

The point being..... learn from the experiences of others. You don't have the time or the money to make all of the mistakes yourself.

More??

My fiber sticks out fine indoors. Unless your some kind of vigilante low light is not an issue. Try before you buy is a given.

More? Sure I love it when people make an ass out of themselves.

Dallas, try shooting an IPSC stage in the rifle bay at TSE or at Phoenix Range and then decide if it's an issue or not......

I've heard a lot of guys complaining about not seeing their fiber optic sights indoors and on overcast days under a roof. Some ranges are not sight friendly especially the one I shoot at.

I have shot my SP01 in the TSE rifle bay a few times and under low light in the pistol bays. Notch and post still works.

Last time I checked, my indoor range had lights in it... So the F.O. was working perfectly.. Actually they worked better then outdoors, and even against the darker area of the range, the red F.O. REALLY stood out, while the post faded into the back ground.

can't be any worse than using regular black sights indoors. I use the PSI Fibre Optic adjustables. It was a slight learning curve, but I really like them now.
I have also used the Ameriglo Tritium tactical front sight with rear Mepro adjsutables. The Ameriglo has a clear white ring around the front tritium insert, and you can see that sight in any light!

Yes, but it works rather craptasticly if I remember the scores correctly:D

If you can find fibre optic sights with tritium as well, I think it would be a safe bet you'd be covered in most conditions.

So, we going to see you in a mask and cape next shoot? A la Nacho Libre?

I had a FO sight put on my SW 625. It was great outdoors, but was very poor indoors. Because the FO was centered below the top edge of the front sight, in poor light conditions, I tended to use the top of the front sight, because I could not see the FO. Not great shooting IPSC indoors!!!!!!

So I took it off and am back to the black partridge. Not bad, but always looking for something better.

Anyone know of a company that sells tritium sights for a SW N frame?
