I just purchased a sportco target rifle it is an older rig and I would like to find some sights to install on it .
I have never shot a gun with peep sights before and I think they are kind of kool.
Who sells the sights used on the target rifles and what are good sights to get.
I have shot a few shoots F class over the summer with my scoped rig and I am interessted in trying out some peep sights .

Are there any sight bases on the rifle now?
There are some options. If the bases are there, it would make things easier.

By bases, Tiriaq wants to know if there is a sharp-sided dovetail at the muzzle and some sort of a ridged flat base with screw holes on the side of the receiver.

Or perhaps a stamped bracket sort of thing on the receiver.
The base with dovetail at the muzzle would accept most any target front sight unit - Parker Hale, etc.
A rear base with a series of ridges is for a Central sight.
The stamped bracket adapts a Parker Hale 5C.
There are other possibilities.
If there are no bases, you will have to find them as well as the sights.

Contact Paul Rieben of Range Sports Unlimited in Kamloops. He will likely have used reconditioned Central sites and bases that were original on these rifles. Phone: (250) 372-7030

Tiriaq there is no dovetail at the muzzle the muzzle is turned down and there is 2 screw indentations where there seems to have been a sight there is a flat on the back of the receiver with one tapped hole and 2 tapped holes on the side with a flat.

The muzzle ought to be either .750" or .812" in diameter (those are the two standard diameters). A clamp-on band is used, which includes a dovetail as part of it. You then attach your front sight to the dovetail.

The rear sight base usually attaches to the left side (that's what those two tapped screw holes are for). Sounds like there is not a base presently on the rifle...?

You could perhaps find some stuff by contacting the local TR shooters (email me if you need contact info), or you could buy it new from Paul Reibin in BC.

Hope you enjoy TR, it's a lot of fun and it really is remarkable what you can do with an iron-sighted rifle....

When I first start Longrange competative shooting years back, I rented a sportco rifle (7.62 x 51) from the O.R.A. for a season (back when they did that). Good rifle! It had central sights on it mounted to a sight block on the left side of the receiver held there by 2 screws. Not sure about the front sight setup.
I loved that rifle.
