So, what's the big issue with buying a US made Sig? Seems that there is a lot of chatter and hype about the German made and assembled Sigs. I'm in the market for a 220....should I be ruling out US made ones???????

It's the way a gun is designed; HK45 pistols are made in the USA IIRC.

Lots of BMWs are made in the US, too.

Problem with Sig is there's a lot of speculation that Americans aren't as strict about quality control as the obsessive Germans are, so they're not so well put together.
I can't speak on that personally, because my US-made Sig (Frame Made in Germany) seems great, as does my German-made one.

But it seems obvious that Sig is trying to cut costs by doing things like offering one magazine (which has stopped, massive outcry), using MIM parts to cut down on production costs, using a cheaper and inferior supplier for their OEM magazines, etc.

It's very simple Rackman. If it was made in the U.S. it sucks. If it was made in Germany it's awesome. That is all. How dare you question the reason behind this FACT! Everyone KNOWS whatever is made in Germany is automaticaly 153% cooler...

Wenn die SIG Sauer ist nicht in der Heimat hergestellt wird, wird es zweifellos durch minderwertige Arbeiter gemacht, und wird nicht zuverlässig schützt Sie vor den bösen Mächten, die unsere Welt durchdringen.

^ That, and it will make zem very angry. They will start another war if you dont buy German qualitat.

The whole thing is over exagerated. The early issues were addressed/corrected and it's fine now. US QC is not German QC but you gotta live with it; There were german lemons too..

IMO, The german thing is more sentimental or a collector feature... Just like Italian Berettas, German HK45s and Austrian Glocks...

I've owned both and they both work fine, and no noticeable QC issues with either.

Some people just like to act like it's a big deal, they're usually the ones that don't shoot their guns much.

It's kind of like VW. The German made cars are great. When they shifted north americ production to Mexico, the quality went down big time

There are little niches of the shooting sports/hunting that are fostered by our European brethern.
Where would cowboy action shooting be today without the help of companies such as Pedersoli?
My one example is my Swiss made target pistol, a Hammerli Model 150. The TOZ pistol series is well known, along with Walther GSPs etc. Notice all the high end rimfire ammunition all comes from EU countries also.
Look at all the rifle companies producing very expenive Mausers to wealthy clients through big US names such as Cabela's, Gander Mountain, etc.

Ich finde dass, die beste Sig Sauer deutsch gemacht ist.

und

nein,

Ich bin nicht Deutsch.

In all seriousness though, I personally believe the German ones are better, weil the German made Sigs are proofed and quality tested by a third party. AFAIK this is not the case in the United States.

One have to own a German made and then This question will not exist.
And for the people "i had them both" you know this is the internet and we all are JTF4 x 12.......to the square of........get real if you had both and never see a difference.......
Those who know never ask! Those who don't go out and get one.
The end

Uh huh.

I probably put more rounds down range in a month then most do in a year. And the only parts I've ever had go wrong was a hammer reset spring break on my german gun (happened twice).

Try taking them out and shooting them instead of staring at them inside your safe trying to figure out what is wrong with your american gun.

I'm in that crowd who has and had both. My guns were bought and designed to do a lot of shooting which I try my best to accommodate....You're summary is out to lunch.
