For my CZ452.

I have a bushnell 3x9x40 on it currently, and I am looking for suggestions on what scope to get if I decide to pursue sihlouette shooting.

Or the BSA 18x .22 scope with side focus.

Which will perform best (I also love nailing gophers) or is there another suggestion out there that will suit my needs better?
 
I use a Bausch and Lomb 6-24 X42 AO. I had to shim it slightly, as it is a little shy on elevation adjustment. But it is a really nice scope for the price (400ish on EE) and does an excellent job on a rimfire silhouette rifle.

Made specifically for silhouette. I have one mounted on my CZ452. I had a Leupold VXII 6-18 target before.

Some of the other shooters at my club use BSA and Tasco, but, beleive me, the money is well spent on decent optics for this sport once you decide to move up.

I paid 685+ taxes/shipping for mine. No need to shim, 60MOA of elevation adjustment, and a nice large dot. I'll be using mine tonight.
 
I've never looked at the above mentioned silhouette scope (sightron) perhaps I should. I use to shoot a lot of silhouette but only shot 22's with a peep sight. I've shot silhoutte with my 308 (200-500Metres) and was very pleased with a Leupold 12X dot reticle.
 
I've always used a 6.5-20x Leupold for silhouette with a dot reticle. You could also get by with a K15 Weaver which is what I used early on and on my light rifle for rimfire silhouette.
 
I shot silhoutte years ago and we were into fixed 24X scopes. Then the 36x 's came along and most found it an improvement.

aim small, hit small.

sure kept you on your toes on form and follow through.

I like the dot reticle with FCH - just follow the bouncing dot.

the elite 4200 6x24 AO is a wonderful product and reasonable cost. this is what I shot for years.

I much prefer Sightron scopes as the clarity is a notch up. contrast and ability to see through mirage helps alot here too. Tracking has been superb which is so important when you are dialing around all day long.

I would suggest looking at the SII big Sky 36X if you want a high mag scope. This is a gem with a really wide field of view. Might be a bit high in mag to start though.

The various SII Big Sky scopes have really nice features vs the older SII ( still really good and less money).
