I was just wondering about all the silence from the trap a skeet shooters on this forum regarding the shotgun ban? I've yet to hear anyone call the government out on it. Do you not think it applies to you? If so then you are dead wrong.

they probably know there is no way in hell this will be enforced. its only good to show how incompetent bill blair is

everybody knows that AT THIS TIME the ban of shotguns is an oversight

A couple of friends of mine are completly destoyed over the shotgun ban. Both are avid skeet shooters and they were real good...

Then they should be denouncing it like everyone else, not sitting back keeping quiet. I'm sure more than a few of them own one or more of the 1500.

because the CSSA makes an announcement on how THEY (and/or a lawyer) perceive the law to read we should all get our knickers in a bunch? I don't support ANY of the laws prohibiting guns in Canada because I'm fully aware that they don't apply to criminals. I also don't support policy based fact making (a typical Liberal tactic). But, and flame away on me, I'm a big boy, I also don't support an idiotic interpretation just because it comes from a pro-gun organization (and yes, I'm a member and so is everyone in my family).

Every trap/skeet/sporting clays shooter I know is outraged by the whole mess (because most of us also own an Ar15 or two), that they don't come on Gunnutz and regurgitate the popular opinion doesn't mean they don't care or aren't doing anything!!

So, based on your statement that an "idiotic interpretation" was made, you believe that Bill Blair's Twitter account is more reliable than the actual legislation (forced or not) that was written, and a lawyer putting it into layman's terms for people like you. Hmmm.

I think the lawyer may also have an agenda so the wording has been interpreted to support their position. I'm well aware of how lawyer's work, and how they put things into "laymen's terms" (part of my 9 to 5 is providing court testimony so I feel well versed) for people like me. The idiotic position (in my opinion) is that anyone would suggest that the threaded portion of the barrel constitutes the bore. CSSA opinion doesn't make it law any more than Blair's tweet, and in fact, the only person who gets to interpret the law is the judge at trial.
Just because the opinion is pro-gun, and let me make it perfectly clear, so am I, doesn't mean they're right. If they actually uphold this nonsense, I have over $40K in affected 12 gauge shotguns so believe me, I have a dog in the fight, then I'll decide who or where my dollars will support.

It may be an oversight, but 90% of trap and skeet guns are currently prohibited, and will remain that way until the wording is fixed. It might take a week, it might take a year, or the Liberals may just say f*uck it, we're going to ban them eventually anyway, why correct it? Keep pressure on. I just completed an interview with the local paper, this morning.

90% is a bit high, I think. All my fixed choke trap guns measure under 20mm. My early model Perazzi MX8 measures 19.23 with the choke removed. Apparently at least some Geurinis measure under. I doubt a fixed choke skeet gun would be larger than 20mm.

Back to the OP's original question. I think most trap and skeet shooters are pretty certain that 12 and 10 Gauge shotguns are not actually prohibited so they choose not to post messages that are in effect, preaching to the choir.

I have let my MP and MPP know what I think about this, and previous "gun control" laws effectiveness, not posting about in in the Clays forum on Gunnutz doesn't mean I'm less passionate about guns ..........

Wonder what the ratio of professionals such as lawyers / doctors that shoot shotgun compared to John Wick three gun shooters is?

AR15 shooters might look down on that sporting clay shooting dentist but you will have to remember politicians need their teeth cleaned too.

You should be begging the old boys club to help you and trust me many all ready are.

BTW I talked to my MP on your behalf.

There's an awful lot of wealthy guys participating in handguns/black guns/tactical stuff.

But none of that matters. Sticking together matters.

That last line is the key..

Agreed. And I apologize for the rhetoric I dumped above. We're allowed to criticize arguments that seem counterproductive and I understood your perspective in the first place - no need to be lashing out at you.

I grew up hunting (and still do), got into the shooting sports as a hobby and, since I can finally afford it after years of paying for schooling etc., this was the year for me to make a push toward being more competitive and involved in the community since I finally had the time and money. As a kid who worked at a trap & skeet association in high school, I'm furious at the prospect that any gun loving person could be apathetic towards our cause right now, let alone a specific discipline. This fight will require a full united effort to etch our way of life into Canadian history.

....The idiotic position (in my opinion) is that anyone would suggest that the threaded portion of the barrel constitutes the bore. CSSA opinion doesn't make it law .....

Exactly! What's the bore diameter of a blunderbuss? If the threads, what about the forcing cone - or the chamber. See how silly it gets?

That kind of sensationalist rhetoric belongs in the Toronto Star.

None of that makes any of this right though.
