We have found over the years with many of our hunting rifles that that the really slippery VLD and ULD style bullets offer no advantage over a "standard style" hunting bullet in actual field conditions, in fact often it was a bit ha4der to get a good hunting load worked up quickly that worked well indie 500 meters.
with something like a 140 grain ELDX, Grand Slam, Partition or Game King, the bullets worked well out of the majority of magazines whereas the longer VLD's at times had a problem with seating depth .
For match shooting or long range steel plinking where single feeding was not an issue, sure, but form the most part, we found sticking to shorter style profile bullets worked as well or better.
