hey guys this may be silly, but with the craze on the long sleek bullets which help the 6.5 creedmore, im wondering if the twist rate or throat would have any dissavantages for shooting say standard cheaper SP projectiles in reloads? like a standard 6.5 140gr woodleigh or the like.

no ill effect?

No issues shooting 130-140gr SPs out of any of the Creedmoor rifles I've shot, in fact, one of them seems to prefer 140sp bullets over the sleeker alternatives.

You're over thinking things. Unless you're going to extremes of bullet weight and twist, you'll be fine, and your individual rifle will tell you what it likes.

We have found over the years with many of our hunting rifles that that the really slippery VLD and ULD style bullets offer no advantage over a "standard style" hunting bullet in actual field conditions, in fact often it was a bit ha4der to get a good hunting load worked up quickly that worked well indie 500 meters.
with something like a 140 grain ELDX, Grand Slam, Partition or Game King, the bullets worked well out of the majority of magazines whereas the longer VLD's at times had a problem with seating depth .
For match shooting or long range steel plinking where single feeding was not an issue, sure, but form the most part, we found sticking to shorter style profile bullets worked as well or better.

I really like partitions but 140 grain Speers also seem to shoot and hold together very well. They are very affordable bullets.
Based on what I hunt with my 6.5 (which is a Swede), I have generally switched to 125-130 grain bullets.

I really liked the 143 ELDX's, but have recently switched to the 130gr Sierra Game Changers. Still working up a load but have managed to get them to about 0.75moa with very good velocity and SD/ES numbers. Just playing around with some seating depth and they should get even better.
