I've never owned a Ruger, so here comes the silly question...

Is the Ruger M77 MkII action a push feed or CRF? Their site talks about a Mauser type claw extractor, but that's it for info.

Just a heads-up here if you're looking at a used gun...The earliest year or two of MKII production was not controlled round feed. The guns had the Mauser style claw and standing ejector, but the bolt face was not cut out to pick up a cartridge and they were push feed only. I have two that I bought right after the MKII came out, and remember several gun writers taking Ruger to task for coming so close and then failing to take the final step to CRF.

I liked the guns and never dreamed that a major change to CRF would follow so closely after the release of the MKII, so I got these two (a .300WM and a .338WM). Sure enough, shortly after I got them it was announced that production was being modified to allow for CRF in all MKII's. My timing sucks!

If CRF is a deal breaker for you, then check carefully which version of MKII you're looking at.

I have an earlier push feed. There's absolutely nothing wrong with them. I do enjoy the top tang safety (like found on double barrel shotguns) and find this a greater feature than controlled round feed. I see no advantage for my use for controlled round feed.
