Need some help please.

One of our Fire Fighters was boating on the Thompson River near Rabbit Island (Kamloops) when he saw a wallet in the water.
Inside was the "War Badge" and nothing else.

Here's what he shared with us.

I’ve reached out to Veterans Affairs Canada, the Legion and the Kamloops Museum and I’ve had no luck trying to get it back to its rightful family.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated as I would think it means a lot to the right family.

Hopefully someone here might be able to help.

The Silver War Badge was issued in the United Kingdom and the British Empire to service personnel who had been honourably discharged due to wounds or sickness from military service in World War I. The badge, sometimes known as the "Discharge Badge", the "Wound Badge" or "Services Rendered Badge", was first issued in September 1916, along with an official certificate of entitlement.

Canadians have a 'C' prefix

Possibly issued in such numbers and randomly that who received that particular one is unavailable. Local ads referring to it only as old military badge and wallet, owner must describe to claim. Ask local legion to pass it to all branches nearby with same.

That badge might be the only trace of someone who drowned in the river, or chose to. Why would there be nothing else in a wallet if it was intact? It was in the water for a long time by the way the pin has rusted off. Contact Library and Archives Canada, they have the records for Canadian badges with the C prefix.
