Silver Willow

I was there on Sunday morning, pretty cold and windy, but as always enjoyed myself. It's going member only Jan 1st, so if your a filthy casual like myself, you better get your kicks before you gotta pony up for the membership.

This has been kicked around for a long time now.

You should clarify, is it member only, or members allows to bring guests and not just allow drop in of non-members?

It was simply removing non-member drop ins from the discussions I’ve had.

I was under the impression it had been members only (guests allowed with a member) since March?

Myself and a friend shot as drop ins last summer. We were looking forward to dropping in a couple of times next year for a change from our local field. We are too far away to visit often enough to justify a membership.

Here's what SilverWillow says:

Access to Silver Willow will be available to members and their guests starting January 1st - 2018. Insuring quality service, booking availability and ultimate safety are among our top reasons for this change.

Non-members will still be able to shoot at Silver Willow when accompanied by a club guide during specified times. Access will also be granted to guided corporate / team building events, participants of competitions and private shooting instruction sessions.

I'm sure we can work out something - as long as you don't mind the frustration of watching unbroken birds hit the ground. ;) Might be fun to visit Camrose club some day too.

Rob!

Anytime you feel like coming to Camrose to shoot some skeet with us, just let me know.

Awesome Winter Classic shoot today. Kids presents for Christmas piled high on the tables and weather got up to about 14 degrees - with sunshine and just enough breeze to keep the mosquitoes down. ;) Not everyone there knows me, but Duchess, the club lab loves me. (Milkbone)

My second registered shoot and I brought my average from 51% up to 69%. Shot with some world class shooters on my squad and absolutely nothing but fun and giggles. It gets better. I got C class bronze. Now that means I was the fourth worst shooter in the third lowest class - but I got a medal for it.

In all seriousness, a great shoot with good squadmates.

Thanks

Rob!

Rob,

You should come out to Radium in the spring for the Elmer Fudd and the fall Bugaboo Blast competitions. You're mind will be blown.

That's if Vic puts on the shoots again. Rumours going around they may not. =(

Mossleigh puts on a good one too.

I was hoping to go to the Winter Classic, but didn't. $1.10/target is getting a bit pricey. Shot with some friends at Ahiea instead.

CNSCA has received 2018 shoots dates at Radium for Elmer Fudd, May 12 & 13. Bugaboo Blast will be Aug 30 to Sep 2 with the BC Provincials being Sep 1 & 2.

Silver Willow is almost three hours from me, and I have a field 40 minutes away where I am a member, but I am thinking of purchasing a membership at Silver Willow as well. I was very impressed with their facility.

Tried Silver Willow twice last summer and was impressed by the staff and the layout. After purchasing a card for 50 targets was disappointed when several targets failed to launch during my rounds. I was told by a fellow who joined me that malfunctions of the clay traps were fairly common and they were probably empty or broken. Not a great first or second impression as I was charged for several targets that were never launched. I have shot trap for a long time and seen my share of broken clays spit out of the machines but at least I got a do over when that occurred. Will try the facility again this summer and hopefully a clay will appear when called for as it is more challenging than trap!
