Silverdale Gun Club IPSC shotgun Match

I would like to know when the next event is. I am getting my black badge training next month so maybe I can come down for the next one. From the videos, it looks like fun.

Possibly the $45 entry fee for 70 to 80 rounds of fun may seem a bit steep to some?

There are two reasons why round count is where it is.
1) IPSC stages are run in a 3:2:1 ratio of short, medium, long stages.
Max rounds for each of these is lower than handgun so for the same number of stages, round count will be lower by default.

2) range space - you need more space to run a good shotgun match.
There is a minimum distance required to engage steel.
Most handgun matches will have targets in your face and cram stages into shooting bays just to increase round counts.
This decreases the challenge and personally, I find that half the time I'm not even using my sights on these stages.
Lots of fun...

IPSC stages should be about the challenge of coming up with the best strategy/solution to the problem being presented to you, and then executing that strategy.
If the problem you are trying to solve is not falling asleep during the course of fire, what's the point.

You could offer a 500 round match for $5, but if its just arrays of 4 targets stacked on top of each other and a hose fest, I'd rather stay home.

I shoot IPSC/USPSA and 3Gun. I have also raced yachts.

$45 for a 70-80 round shotgun match, or any 80 round match is very steep.

Cost me more to go to the movies w/ my wife than that. And last couple movies have been pretty disappointing and weren't worth my time much less the money.

Everything's relative and to each his own, but I had way more fun/enjoyment at the Silverdale shotgun match Paul, Alex + Crew organized than I have ever had at any movie. Well...except maybe those times when I was 15 at the movies with Charene...but then again don't recall catching much of the movie....

If you look at the last several IPSC matches in last several wks in Ontario most have had numerous vacancies and there has been a huge drop out rate from those that initially signed up. Guessing Likely due to combination of several factors. Summer vacations, Nationals, incrediblely hot humid conditions and or T-storms, busy IPSC match spring/early summer season?? Noticed several late drops in the Silverdalt match as well.

Would have been great to have had a better turn out for the match as Paul and crew went to a lot of trouble to set up a terrific set of fun stages for us. They have to rent the ranges from Silverdale and am advised they were expecting to be in the hole on the match. Small group dynamics however made for a relaxed fun atmosphere for me on my first shotgun match. For those that missed the opportunity, their loss.

Shooting 75 to 100 rnds of Shotgun rnds in a match is good enough for me, I know its not enough for a pistol. but Shotgunning is a different beast. your whole body shakes and tremble everytime you fire a shot and I'm Loving It. oh yeah baby. lol

Currently none scheduled on the calendar, but we'll see what the rest of the year has in store.
Once you pass your BB, you will have access to the IPSC Ontario forums and match calendar.
You can see upcoming matches there and sign up for the ones you wish to shoot.

Good to know. Thanks for the info. I'll keep my eye open.

No special BB for Shotgun only, your BB is good for Rifle, Shotgun and Handgun.
for matches, Hoping and waiting for one too.

That's a great point banger. As long as your club is approved for action shooting, you could offer to help put on your own outlaw shotgun match. If you're worried about filling the slots, post it on CGN and it will fill...
