I looking for a scope for my savage 16 fhsak, the only one who have all the caracteristic I whant is a simmons pro hunter but I dont know if simmons is a good product or just a cheap gammic.

my second choice is a bushnell legend 5x15x40mm ao but I loose my silver coulor to match with the rifle stainless, and the legend dont have the side focus adjustment I will need to adjust my parralax buy turning the front objectif.

Your opinion can help me to make my final choice.
someone had bad experience with simmons scope?

I have only have experience with two simmons scopes bought by friends at a gunshow. One went blurry after 40 or 50 rounds and the crosshairs broke in the second.

I have a Simmons atec scope on my tikka. I have never had any problems with it, everything is as good as the day I bought it. I've heard lots of mixed reviews on them. I guess with them its just luck.

I also have the Simmons Aetec scope and haven’t found anything wrong with it but I haven’t really put to the test. It was on my 308 semi auto for one season without any problems and now it’s on my 222. I am however impressed on the quality of the optics for the price. Good Luck...

I too have an A-tech, it's a great scope, but since I have had this one, I learned that should you have a warranty issue it involves shipping to the states, which may not be that much trouble but can be a long process. If you can afford a little more go for a Bushnell 3200 of other such items warrentied in Canada.

The very latest issue by Simmons was put through a torture test by John Barsness of Shooting Times magazine. It has been totally redesigned and doesn't use springs to keep the crosshairs in place. Supposedly bombproof. bearhunter

thanks at all, simmons is removed from my list, why take a chance, I will stick with bushnell is not the best but I never have big trouble with the bushnell I have.

Yeah ,I read that article as well, they did away with what makes a scope weak-springs and a gimbal. The system is also used by the new redfield line.Since simmons and redfield have now come under Meade's umbrella I think that comparing and old simmons to a new one might be unfair. I like strong scopes and if Barsness couldn't shake one apart with an ultra light .338 shooting a balls to the wall 250gr load,I may give one a try.

I have a 6x18 Pro Hunter that has been on a few diff rifles and works good, also have a 6.5x20 Mag 44 and its ok.All the others i bought 3 3x9 Whitetails and they were all junk.
