Earlier ones did not, later ones did.

They started chroming them part way through 1951 in Russia. As of 1952 I believe all sks's were chrome lined regardless of place of manufacture

An earlier model with a chromed bore mean that the bore was replaced during refurbishing. I have 2 1949 and they still have their original non-chromed barrel

Don't feel too bad because the non-chromed barrels often were more accurate.Just clean it with some windex to remove the corrosive salts and your fine.

Yup and the non chrome barrel where only replaced if they were bad

And..??? I've had my non chrome barrel for about 4 - 5 yrs, and it shoots great. Nothing to worry about not having a chrome lined one.

Chrome lined barrels are certainly a bonus for "shooter grade" SKS's, but I keep my guns clean and oiled religiously, so I can live without it. The thing about chrome lining is that it is extremely durable and really extends the life of a barrel... dare I say indefinitely.
