I recently took some time to really evaluate what didn't really work for me with my Beretta and Benelli's all in camo. Turns out my drop on the Beretta was still a little high, so I installed the lowest shim and presto....a great view along the length of the rib instead of looking down on the rib. Next I found that the camo finish was distracting my eye from the red fiber optic bead at the end of the barrel. Simple fix there too....off to Home Hardware and picked up a can of camo flat black spray paint. I taped off the top of the rib very well and the red fiber optic then cleaned the top of the rib with alcohol. Let dry and then carefully spray painted the rib flat black over the camo finish. WOW what a difference in clear target sight picture vs the factory camo. Not stopping there...all my camo shotguns got the same treatment. I ordered the Briley extended bolt release for my Extrema 2 and installed carefully with the new set of punches from Amazon. This also makes a HUGE difference in reload speed and comfort. Highly recommended after market on some guns add on. I hope this helps at least a few smoke a couple more birds next season.

Cheers

Ive never noticed the bead or rib when shooting birds or clays. I do however have a linder proofed charles daly that has a very smooth rib and i find a strip of electrical tape down the top stops the suns rays from blinding me

Its amazing how small changes make big differences

I know a gun fits me well by closing my eyes, shouldering the gun to a comfortable mount and then opening my eyes. If I see any rib, the gun doesnt fit. All I want to see is the complete front bead centered and lined up with my eye, and zero rib. If you see the rib, the gun will shoot high and if you dont see the bead, the gun will shoot low. And for me, that is the only purpose a front sight serves unless I’m shooting at a stationary target like when hunting turkeys or patterning my gun. When I get a wingshooting gun to fit right, the front sight is useless for me from that point forward. My only focus when I’m shooting is the moving target. If you’re looking at the rib or fibre optic sight rather than the target, you will miss more times than you’ll hit. Also, if your gun fit is correct and your only focus is the target you intend to shoot, you will not be distracted by the colours on the rib or the front sight

Agree 100%.
