Simple "tactical" shotgun question

Thank you for your advices. I understand both guns are a pretty good choice.
Right now, I think I'm gonna try to find a 590A1 with a 18.5" barrel. (I saw some were on sale for $500.00....last year)
From all I read, I think the Mossberg is a more rugged gun...and I wanna tell people "hey, that's a military spec shotgun".
I need it to be short and once it's here, I'll probably add a folding stock.
In my wildest dreams, I will end-up with a mariner...
But you know, if a decent 870 crosses my path, well...who knows?

If adding a folding stock, go 870. Safety position alone.

Of the two, though? I would go benelli 14”. ;)

I have both and 870 Wingmaster, and a 590A1. The 870 is the only one that has let me down in the field. Although it’s a fantastic shotgun, and well made, I just can’t forget that. It took far less rounds to break the firing pin and ejector than the 590. To add to that, the 590 cycles wayyyyyyy smoother than the 870.

Go with the Mossy, and don’t let people steer you towards that Maverick 88 crap.
