The Sims Limbsaver Rifle Barrel De-Resonator.

Here is the ugly thing:

I thought I'd try one and noticed a difference in my cz 452 american in .17HM2. I started with it mounted near the forearm and by sliding it down 1/4"at a time and shooting groups, i've gotten to 1 hole (i.e. bughole) 5 shot groups, minus the odd flyer. I think I can get rid of the flyer with the leather washer trick already mentioned on this site. It used to be, I got 1/2" -3/4" groups at 50 yds with this gun, more randomly scattered.

Here are my before shots (with the de-resonator near the forearm, much like the first photo), all with eley ammo.

this is after adjustment as mentioned above, and recleaning the barrel with the trusty bore-snake.

Ok, so I'm not a benchrest shooter (my shooting ability is a variable here) and am using a banner 4-12 scope, but to my eyes, the gadget is doing something good.
I am curious if others have tried it and if it has made a difference for you.

Interesting results. You should put 100 more rounds down range and record it, you can't base results off 15 or so rounds. It's compelling, but I won't plunk any money down until I can see consistent improvement. I have a hard time believing that little chunk of rubber can bring you down to MOA accuracy. You can probably credit the increase in accuracy to the bore snake. -TpwnSteak

I have a lot of fun shooting the HM2 in my bolt guns, but it's one failing is that you need to clean the barrel after 20 shots, due to fouling: the shells run dirty. The bore snake fixes that up fine.

...I can assure you, if I didn't start with a clean barrel in each case, the results would be meaningless.

By the way, besides the hm2, I will be doing more testing with this thing on a few other guns. I will post the results when I do. However, I don't have the opportunity to "wring it out" and do an exhaustive test (range trips are too rare). I was hoping to hear some comments from those that have.

Agreed. I still would like to see another box or so downrange before i'm convinced. That chunk of rubber is an eyesore, and the benefits of it aren't presenting themselves. You'd be better off spending the money on ammo.

I had one of these a few years ago on my Stevens 200 in 25-06, it worked best for me about 1 inch from the end of the bore. I tried it out at 300 yards at the medicine Hat range once and gave me a nice moa group. FS

You can do the same thing with careful bedding and ammo selection.
Get a lot that works well and buy a bunch of it , because even if you do use that French ticker if you change lot numbers you are more than likely going to change POI.
Maybe try two or three of them......

Using the Eley ammunition, I can see no loss in accuracy after 50 shots in my rifle. Even after 100 shots, the accuracy doesn't change very much. As for the bore snake, I won't allow one in any of my rifles.
